Loosely defined, GAR means uber manly. So post who you think is the most manly character of the year or of all time with a short reason. For me it has to be Akagi, because of his lunacy.

Seconding this. Everyon else is a little ninny in comparison.

If you mean "Aaarrrghhh!" | kickass | power| courage, so it is Guts (Berserk).
if you mean strength | reliability | confidence | courage, then it is Keigo Oonishi (Texhnolyze).

You do realize it is WRONG though, right?
I mean, Kenshiro is the baddest dude, no question about it. I dare anyone to prove otherwise (I won't believe it though).
Anyone who says otherwise has simply not watched HnK.

Harumph.

It's a sad sad day when the person the term was NAMED AFTER isn't mentioned.

I haven't watched HnK but Reuenthal, bro. Reuenthal and Schenkopp.

Reuenthal gets extra points for Wakamoto and more extra points for how he takes the shit that happens to him. No wangsting here, o no, despite having so many and so dauntingly convincing reasons to be so that one'd expect anyone to just cave in and cry to death. Heck, any single one of them in isolation have been enough to explain omnicidal maniacs in lesser works of art.

Reuenthal takes it with a refined smile, wit, and a glass of good wine.

That is GAR,

Now imagine that with more blood and less wit. You'll have Kenshiro.

Edit: And I have here a folder (almost done *-*) that denies the masculinity of most characters in LotGH.

Well, they're not bad, but they are far from being walking slabs of obsidian and fury like Kenshiro.

But he's not that hardcore. He's just a ninny, hell he was beaten by Berserker so easily.

These two, then, given what gay, in turn, meant.

I don't think the etymology matters more than as trivia.

i second this but everyone know that the only person to be in this category is a guy named GUY. what could possibly be manlier than that. this guy got blown up in space, became a hero, implanted courage into little kids and literally, single handedly save the universe.

Kenshiro. I say this not having even seen HnK.

Mention does need to be made of Archer, since he IS the origin of the term, but ironically, he doesn't fit it nearly as well as many other characters, and I find this pretty funny.

Amongst all that inane Kamina noise I'd have to agree by saying Kenshiro. Buuuut if Audie Murphy or Jack Churchill were ever transposed into an anime with a just portrayal I'd give the title to them.

Kenshiro and Jojo, the most manly stoic badass bastards you'll find.

Their attack names are 'atatatatata' and 'oraoraoraoraora'. If you're still not convinced, see for yourself.

Kamina does make it to 3d place though

Also, when addressing Kenshiro-dono, please use -dono. Thank you.

Kenshiro-dono even has a math formula to represent his awesomeness.

When X = Bruce Lee, Y = Jesus Christ, and Z = Chuck Norris

X(2)+Y(1.5*6)+Z = Kenshiro-dono.
