Fullmetal Alchemist vs. Brotherhood

I've just completed watching both & I prefer Fullmetal Alchemist to Brotherhood for a variety of reasons. Why is it that I seem to be the only one? What is better about Brotherhood? It seems to me that FMA has better character development in contrast to Brotherhood...

you aren't, I enjoyed the original a lot more too but in the end both of them are fucking awesome and that's what really matters.

People overestimate faithful adaptations, and they do hate fillers blindly (I call them "adaptation haters", no matter how something is adapted, they're going to hate it). I think both FMAs are outstanding.

You're not the only one at all! There are a lot of people who do :) What is better about Brotherhood? Probably how concentrated the plot is and the fact that the ending gives more closure than FMA 03, even if you are including The Conqueror of Shamballa (I do include that movie, because it was the planned ending). I also love how solid the plot and ending are in Brotherhood, but I think a much better version of the same story is found in the manga. Brotherhood had a lot of problems, not the least of which was rushing. Character development suffered, I think. So basically, in my opinion:

The manga > FMA 03 > FMAB

FMA 03 is my favorite anime, and I really think it is wonderful as an anime in itself (and even as an adaptation for the first half). I read the manga first, but FMA 03 did eventually win me over. FMAB was very disappointing to me as an adaptation.
