So I've been watching anime for a bit over a year now (except for a few series that I've seen in the past). And for a long while now it's been harder and harder to find new series to watch because the anime industry is what it is. Therefore I've finally decided to take the plunge into manga, the reason I haven't really read any so far is because I just prefer the anime and novel formats more compared to manga. I am a complete noob when it comes to manga but I plan to dedicate the next few months to reading manga to see what the medium has to offer.

The purpose of this thread is to get some recs on what to read:

1. I want to know any and all "must-reads" so if you know any, leave them here. (The ones that are generally well-praised or largely considered masterpieces, no restrictions on the type of manga.)

2.Something more geared towards me.
First off, I'm a big romance fan. Genre-wise I also like SoL, psychological, mystery and parody. Comedy is always a plus and drama, in moderation of course, can be good as well. Action anime don't usually interest me because there's too much focus on the fighting/action and they usually lack in substance outside the action. Things are usually the same way with ecchi, so please no ecchi recommendations unless there's some redeeming quality.

Quick pointers on what I like and don't like to see
+Realistic characters/three dimensional characters
+Round characters/stories with proper development (meaning that not all development is left towards the end of the series or just dragged out for too long)
+Overall mature story
-Plot holes or story elements that don't make sense
-Predictability
-Clichés
-Staring contests (looking at you action anime)

Don't take these ones as definitive restrictions they are just some aspects that usually mark a good story for me but there's plenty if not more stories I've liked that don't follow many of these preferences (Like most rom-coms). The Manga can also be as goofy or serious as you want it to be, I go both ways.

Here's my anime list for extra reference:

3.Recommend me some of your own favorites if you feel like they might be something I'd like. (^Anime list for reference^). Fot these recs I'd appreciate a short explanation of the manga and what to expect from it.

I'm looking forward to all your recommendations, feel free to leave as many you want to (just don't flood the page). Thank you in advance!

Monster would be perfect for you. It is about a japanese doctor in germany who is falsely accused of murder and his journey as he tries to trace the actual killer. (no romance though)

Skip Beat! - I know it sounds like a typical shoujo manga, but don't let the synopsis fool you. It's a unique series. It definitely has character development, the right amount of comedy (and the most hilarious as well) and has romance. It's personally my number one favorite manga of all time.
Oresama Teacher - Very funny
Ouran High School Host Club - One of the most hilarious series and continues more into the story than the anime.
Hana-Kimi
Gakuen Alice
Fruits Basket
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Beauty Pop
W-Juliet
Death Note
