 A recent scan from shoujo magazine ARIA's August issue has revealed that Hatsukoi Monster (First Love Monster) will be adapted into a TV anime.The romantic comedy manga previously received a drama CD, released on February 25. It cast prominent seiyuu Takahiro Sakurai as the male lead, Kanade, and Yui Horie as the female lead, Nikaidou Kaho. Other character voices included Showtaro Morikubo, Tomokazu Sugita, Ayumu Murase, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Kaito Ishikawa, and Hikaru Midorikawa. It is unknown if the cast will be reprising their roles. Hatsukoi Monster is both written and illustrated by Akira Hiyoshimaru. It began serialization in ARIA in January 2013, and is still ongoing with four compiled volumes released. The second volume ranked 34 in its first week on Oricon's Weekly Manga Rankings. Synopsis Nikaidou Kaho is a daughter of a rich family and her whole life everyone's been nice to her. When moving to her new high school dormitory, she almost gets hit by a truck but is saved by a boy. It's love at first sight for Kaho but when asking him his name, he tells her she's weird. Kaho is shocked since it's the first time anyone's ever said mean things to her. Soon enough, she finds out that the boy who saved her lives in the same dormitory and so she bravely confesses her love. The boy says his name is Kanade and agrees to go out with her. Unfortunately, the following day Kaho finds out that her first boyfriend is a 5th grader. A sample of the manga is available on ARIA's blog. | I'm actually happy that this is getting an anime adaption. The manga is really good so far in my book; then again I have weird taste at times. Can't wait to watch it; hopefully the graphics are good. |

| That's a pretty lulzy synopsis. If the female MC doesn't say at some point 'but officer, he said he was 18!', I'll be disappointed. On the downside, when that guy's 20 he'll look 50 or so. Enjoy youth while you can, kid. |

| What?? Of all shoujo to adapt... Quick skim of the first few chapters and I'm cringing. The girl's a rabbit being thrown into a pack of wolves. (Generic reverse harem girl, loli version.) It looks like the main couple of Inu x Boku SS, except with much weaker personalities and a harem cast. And he's not the only bishounen adult who claims to be a fifth grader?? I'm actually going to watch this just to see what the heck they're doing with this... |

| I just read the first few chapters out of curiosity- I'm definitely going to be giving this one a pass. The female protagonist is really stupid/annoying, and the whole fifth grade boy thing...just no. (I'm raising a child in that age range and the whole thing just made me really uncomfortable/pissed off.) (There's a theory that he's older, but stupid, so he's been held back repeatedly, but that really didn't make me feel any better.) |
