Great program. I just wish I could get it to work.

Program Version: 1.0
OS: Windows XP Home Edition, running under the classic Windows look. Yes, I tried switching it back to the XP visual style and still the same problem. Don't really know what you mean by 32 or 64 bits, but if you're talking about color, it's 32.

I tried multiple themes with the same result. I have no scroll bar, and on the initial theme, it just cuts off the entire right and bottom. Below are screenshots of the messed up looking settings page, and the messed up program under the initial theme. I was going to take screenshots of the other themes too, but after I switched to Initial, it would no longer read that I had other themes, though the theme folders were in the proper location. Screenshot of that included.

So yeah, no scroll bar, right side is screwed up, some visual problems (settings screen), and it's not recognizing the themes.

Still though, great idea, and I hope you'll be able to help me out.

Also forgot to add:

Q. I can't see the status popup window in the right bottom corner, it's all grey
A. Enable "Visual Styles" in XP (control panel, system, advanced, performance)

I already did this, too.

I'm pretty sure it's a problem with your dpi setting.

Go to control panel, display, settings, advanced, check your dpi settings, it should be 96. Please see the screenshot for reference.

About the themes, that's really weird, can you try clicking the refresh button? (it's right beside the list of themes)

Did you rename the file adding the "04." at the front? I think the original file was [SHS-Ureshii]_Code_Geass_-_04_[926EBDEE].avi

It will work if you remove the extra 04. :)

Thank you for the response, however, changing my DPI from 120 to 96 did not help. Still the same problem.

And yes, Rika is love.

I think you have to restart windows after changing dpi. Can you take a screenshot again after switching to 96 and rebooting? It's definitely that problem, I've just tried it in XP. (switched to 120 to test)

Ah, yes, that worked. However, at 1280x800 resolution, 96 dpi causes my text for window headings and text of tabs on the start bar to be too small to read without hurting my eyes. I suppose I'll just have to do without.

Thank you again, for your time!

Program version: 1.0
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, running on Aero Basic

Well, it works brilliantly, except for theme selection. Specifically, it provided me with this error:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y261/nyek/mal_updater_error.jpg

Running the program as administrator solved the problem, as did moving the entire MAL Updater folder to my personal folder. It's actually more of the usual Vista habit of not normally allowing programs access to its Program Files directory unless ran as administrator. A quick-and-dirty solution might be to allow changing the install directory in the installer program so that users can install to directories other than Program Files; alternate solutions may be possible (like placing the Themes directory in the user files directory similar to how save games are saved), but will likely be complex.

That said, I'd like the ability to choose the install directory as a workaround to this issue. However, it's not exactly a world-ending issue, since the program isn't averse to being copied and ran from elsewhere.

Well, thanks for the program, and thanks for your time!:D

Hmm I see, I have UAC off so never noticed that, it's pretty retarded though for Vista not to allow access to the program's own folder :p Moving the folder to the user's docs one might work, ill come up with a solution for the next update. I'm just worried about users being confused where they have to unzip the themes.

I'm thinking of making it import the theme from a zip and doing the unzip work itself

Hello, great program Kotori :)

small bug I can't figure out though:
(v.1.0 WinXPpro 32bit)
When it's set to delay the update by a certain amount of minutes, it does not seem to update. The pop-up comes up, goes away after a few seconds, and pops up again about five seconds later saying it will update in X minutes. It repeats this without ever updating. It does work though if set to no delay, or by manually updating, and I don't mind no delay, I just didn't know why the time delay didn't work.

ps. I like your birthday :D

Did it happen while still watching the same anime/episode? If either of them changes while the schedule is running, it will stop and reschedule for the new anime/ep.

Can you tell me the filename that's playing while it happens?

lol @ birthday, I don't know many people with the same one :D

I tried watching a whole ep. with update delay set to 2min
episode= [SS-Eclipse] Kanon - 03 (h264) [312179B4].mkv
and it didn't update, but kept popping up saying it would.
Seems to detect Kanon and the ep# fine. Closing MPC when an update is scheduled looks like it removes any scheduled update going to take place.

Does any vers. of MPC work? (I'm using v6.4.9)

I'm trying to reproduce the problem without success, it works normally here. I'm using 6.4.9.1 (provided by k-lite) but that shouldn't matter if the anime/ep are detected fine.

What were you watching before ep3? can you try with a fresh run? (open the program, login, open kanon ep3)

Restarting program & then Windows didn't seem to help, but I should have tried something else besides Kanon, as they are the ones causing the main trouble of the update delay to keep restarting.
Tried a new Bleach episode ([DB]_Bleach_161_[D4DE86E5].avi), and Mononoke ([Shinsen-Subs]_Mononoke_-_01_[7593BDAC].mkv), which both let the timer countdown and update.
Though if I close MPC before the update timer finishes (for Bleach/Mononoke/Kanon), it immediately resets and there's no update set to take place.

"it immediately resets and there's no update set to take place."

That's done in purpose; the reason behind scheduling is that if you have a video open for only a few secs, it shouldn't be considered watched or require an update.

Was the kanon file exactly like that btw? "[SS-Eclipse] Kanon - 03 (h264) [312179B4].mkv" I've tried it again, same results.. no problem, not sure why it fails for you ;(
