So I'm not against shows like yuru yuri, koihime musou, or Cross Ange at all... And Devil Lady was an absolutely amazing show targetted to a male demographic. But there was a different tone to the ones I've seen that weren't. But I wonder if we'll ever see something reminiscent of Maria-sama, Oniisama e..., or Utena again? Maybe... maybe not. I guess there's probably less of a demand for class S type shit like that nowadays. I wonder if that type of yuri is simply dead and that's all there is too it. Maybe one day. |

Manga has that and a lot of the really sugary stuff doesn't get adapted either. Full on Yuri often doesn't sell well and with the declining anime market, it's a bit risky to adapt them. |

| If you mean something like maria-sama but actually going somewhere, yes, I would be fine with that, othewise meh. I would still hate it less than shit like sakura trick. What I want to see is an actual good yuri being animated. (the full story, not just 1/4 of it) But it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. |

Thing is, what kinds of yuri being published today (as in currently serialized) can be comparable to those legends? Not many that aren't already finished. Although adapting old manga has become pretty common nowadays. The Japanese just aren't willing to tread in serious, story-driven yuri anymore, because they won't sell as much as something like Yuru Yuri. For them it's just safer to do the Class S bullshit and call it a day. Now the most we can expect either later this year or somewhere in 2016 is a Citrus anime. It's already got an upcoming drama CD, so it's highly likely. |
