It flopped in Japan the same way Mirai Nikki fell on its face.

Meh

Bad shows are getting good sales, and good shows are getting poor sales !

I can't seem to spot any good shows on that list apart from Origin. Enlighten me.

it's ironic how two magical girl (and boy) shows topped the BD and DVD charts respectively. i also didn't know that binan was that popular in japan. yuyuyu makes sense, but binan seems to be aimed at the shoujo crowd (even though it's an original show), and from what i know, shoujo-esque shows don't sell all that well in japan.

Akame ga Kill failed in Japan, only the none japanese fans like that anime anyway

I have been reading the manga and it seems up to chapter 32 (as far as I've read as of recently) and they only left the torture scenes out while everything was adapted straight from the source material. Wonder where the anime starts going off course into bullshit territory. xD

Even though I know it's projected to sell at least 6k, I keep getting the feeling it will be a struggle to get Show By Rock selling over 6k, the CDs not selling even 10k is not a good indicator unless digital sales are a thing for it, if there's 1.5k+ digital sales that aren't counted, it would at least explain why none of the CDs are selling 10k. A music anime with the music not selling at the bare minimum standard is concerning.

I think you're being a bit too pessimistic here. It seems to be selling better and better from each release, and sales have remained fairly constant from week 2 and onwards which is better than falling off straight away. The anime seems to be doing its job. You also can't ignore its strong performance at the gamers retailer, because the Stalker estimates cannot take into account performance from other retailers, since it is only based on the Amazon performance.

My pessimism is present due to past musical themed anime not selling well and what those had in common is that the singles didn't sell very well either (in fact, they sold worse than the Show by Rock CDs), CD sales and BD/DVD sales often goes hand-in-hand in these kinds of anime. If not enough people are buying the CDs, then there's a good chance that either they won't be buying enough BDs/DVDs or it'll struggle to get to decent sales numbers in order to get a second season. Hopefully Show by Rock can break this sad trend.

Really low 1st day sales of 34,179 for the Best Live Collection II album. The reason is due to the stock outages at storefront (such as Animate) have been reported on Japanese blogs since yesterday. Many online retailers are not faring well either. Unless Lantis (who is owned by Bandai) can restock within this week, 1st week sales will not be able to reach 100K... which is a shame. But it's to be expected... since Bandai really has trouble keeping things in stock even if they know how big sales will be.

No, it's not aimed at the shoujo crowd. It's aimed at female otaku and fujoshi thought primarily female otaku with the slight BL references. The shoujo crowd is one which enjoys shoujo manga and shoujo anime, mainly romance stuff. But all the same, it doesn't mean that a shoujo fan can't enjoy Boueibu either.

It's just that it's not aimed at shoujo lovers.

i do wonder how overestimated kekkai sensen's sales will be, im happy its very likley going to do well regardless but theres no way that prediction of it selling in the upper 10K range will actually come true.

also the full Ed is a bit of a dissapointment, theres a really unnecessary guitar solo that kind of kills the flow, the op though is top tier

bump of chicken makes everything better
