Say what you want about the typical LN premise, I think this work has a chance to succeed. Just look at who we have for direction and series composition. That said, Deen quality might bring this down a notch.

I don't really get all the hate pointed towards DEEN, the show's I've watched by them have always been pretty good. Besides this series is one that won't be riding on on its animation alone. The jokes are hilarious, the characters are utterly twisted and the setting itself is actually kind of refreshing compared to the majority of LN-Adaptations, you know... school, 'magic', fighting, red-haired tsundere, token big boobed blonde and black-haired git who thinks she knows better than everyone, now insert dull male lead and let the harem action fly.
Gifting, while it does have the token, One Dude + Three Amazing Girls. It takes that set-up and turns it on its head. The 'One Dude' isn't some secret world champion, he's just an average high schooler who happens to be lucky and the 'Three Amazing Girls' includes a perverted, stupid and clumsy knight, a chuunibyou wizard who can only use one spell (by choice), and a worthless former goddess who is a lazy, drunken delinquent essentially. It ain't a harem story at all. It's a gag filled adventure/comedy. The Ecchi is really downplayed as well, barely shows up except to increase the effectiveness of a certain gag or bit.
I love the novels and can't wait for the anime, even if it is being done by DEEN. They did Sankarea and Sakura Trick. I've got no issues there. (^u^)

I'm pretty hyped about this. It's one of the best LN I've ever read. I don't know any of the anime studios, but judging from the comments this Studio Deen is cause for worry. I'll at least reach the end of the anime.

Damn... this thread is old! Can't believe anyone actually put so much negativity on KonoSuba... (oh wait.. I did too in a different sub-forum... well not a lot... a bit...)

So I guess DEEN really showed us what they can do eh? I mean it literally exploded lol. The second season announcement is #4 top post of all time in r/Anime and r/Megumin received 2600+ subscribers.

Can't believe that we went from negativity to awestruck. From being trashed all over, to be one of AOTS. DEEN finds a way.

Wow, looking back (I mean I guess it's expected), people really didn't think well of this anime. There were a lot of red flags

1. studio DEEN
2. generic synopsis that sounds like just any LN adaptation

I guess the biggest lesson for me is to not judge a LN by the synopsis alone... It could turn out to be good. On poster was straight up right about not judging it by the cover, and look what we have now. Can't wait for season 2

Absolutly emberassing how so many people dismissed the show purely based on a synopsis and the studio in charge of the animation.

I really hope those have learned a lessen and try to be more positive in the future.
