So, you know asbestos, right? The magical material used to build tons of stuff in homes all around the world until the 1980's, that causes all sorts of unfortunate ailments to effect our bodies when inhaled? Well... I am concerned that I just breathed in a ton of it. See, there was this moth on the ceiling above my bed. It wasn't just any ceiling, though, it was a popcorn textured one (which may or may not have been made with asbestos). I couldn't fall asleep with a bug right above me, so I decided to go kill it with a book. I succeeded, but... a bunch of ceiling dust floated down and covered my bed in the process of me slamming and rubbing the book against my ceiling. I tried my best to wipe it off of my sheets, but regardless, there are now potential deadly asbestos particles floating through my room.

So, CD. I'd like to know... do you live in homes with asbestos? Does your bedroom have a popcorn ceiling? Do you even know what asbestos is?!

I don't live in one. Well, the 9/11 event was one of the worst asbestos exposure. Can cause lung cancer though. :l

Nope, don't think it was used as a building material.
Nope, the ceiling is not textured.
Vaguely.

But that's certainly not the only potentially dangerous stuff you meet every day, so you're probably fine...

No I don't.

At the place where my Grandpa lived the outside of the house is covered with these kind of plates that contais asbestos among other things, but those aren't dangerous so it's fine.

The only good use for asbestos is in cigarettes, as it gives the smoker a little extra help on the way to where all smokers are going anyways.

It was used as a building material: it has fire resistant properties.

However what the OP described is unlikely to have been asbestos. Textured ceilings were popular for a period in the 80s-90s, but the texture is made usually with paper or plaster.

Some paints also come off as dust when you touch them. You've probably just inhaled a load of paint, OP.

smoking is bad for your health... therefore we should make it worse for people's health?
that's not a good point
you could apply that to anything

we don't we just fill the air with mustard gas? free radicals kill us slowly anyway, and it will just hurry us along to where all oxygen breathers go
not voluntary enough? well, there are still tonnes of things bad for you which you do by your own volition

Pretty much if serious. People can die of asbestos poisoning just coming into contact with someone who has it on their clothing, so directly breathing it in has a huge risk and it can take years to manifest but chances are its not because asbestos was mainly an insulator you probably just inhaled dust, plaster or dried paint partials.

Yeah, well, mustardgas is a bit extreme, but I'm all for having anti air-craft guns fire at skydivers, those suckers know what they're getting into.

Asbestos is actually good for you, and stimulates neuronal growth in the frontal lobe.

Anything bad you hear about asbestos is propaganda that is being disseminated by the Illuminati.

Oh, I know. I meant it as an answer to the OP's question. It doesn't seem to me that it was used as a building material in my house.

No

Your house is unsafe and you need to move, it's a death sentence living there. I hear those Mesothelioma commercials at 2 AM along with Redux (it's 2015 not 1997) and several antidepressant cases, America is a sue happy place but at least there are people who will give big pharma and asbestos companies what they deserve for almost a century of corporate tyranny.
