Why are you asking this when Win10 is supposedly right around the corner?

OT: I use Win 8.1 on both my laptop and phone

I don't. I've been to a Microsoft presentation of W8 before it came out and it was pretty disastrous ^^

Yeah http://i.imgur.com/6NEeVB5.png Win8.1

but I'm sorely contemplating switching to Windows 7. But from what I heard the problems I have with the OS are in that one too. I just want the logic of Windows XP present in a new OS. I'm sick of clicking things on links in windows that would activate in Windows XP, but they don't activate in Windows 8. I have a few other habits I can't remember but Windows 8 gets in the way a lot of the time.

I do, and I'm NEVER using 8.1 because they kept on pestering me to update on it for free and literaly NOTHING worked. Not even the built in programs. I couldn't make god damn MICROSOFT WORD work on it correctly. And for fuck sake don't make me think back about that whole fiasco concerning my blue ray player on PC. (''Hey guys, let's discourage piracy by making it near impossible to watch legit blue ray on a computer, that'll be great!'')

I had to format my computer 3 GOD DAMN TIME to get rid of the fucking thing, while also trying to get my computer back a couple hours earlier, I forgot how you call that, and play in the windows directory and other crap like that to get them from sending message about that non working piece of shit EVERY HOUR. I DON'T WANT YOU'RE FUCKING SHIT, I'D HAVE GOTTEN IT BY NOW IF I WANTED IT. It was more annoying that fucker clip thing from office, at least that was slightly helpful, maybe.

At least I could make anything work on windows 8, it's weird after comming from the previous generations of windows at first but I think it work great. Actualy, I even like it more than I taught I would ever do.

I played around with the technical preview in VMware Workstation, but I hated it and didn't upgrade my gaming PC from windows 7.

I've also been playing around with the windows 10 technical preview and liking the direction they seem to be taking for the UI. Considering upgrading my gaming PC when it comes out.

As for the OS I'm most familiar with and use 90% of the time; Mint 14 Linux Distro. (server, workstation and work laptop.) Find it to be much less of a hassle than all that bloatware that comes with Apple and Microsoft OS(s).

Windows 7 here, 8.1's GUI just never appealed to me. I'll probably upgrade to Win 10 eventually, you'll need Windows 10 for DirectX 12 anyways. All current users of 7 and 8.1 will get free upgrades anyways (even pirates lol) so not as if there's any reason not to...

Windows 8.1 with classic shell, and changed "This PC" back to "My Computer" because I'm an OG reelest of the real, bchh.

Also after the 8.1 update, they added added the Library Folders to the explorer window.
So, literally what happens as a result is, when you downloaded anything from the internet (like files or images) the annoying f**fk folders got in the way of me getting to my second partition where I save most of my sht. No, microsfot, I don't want to do 2 or three extra clicks so I can get to my second partition., I dont wanna use my mouse wheel on the left panel of the "Save As" download window (that pops up when you DL a file) just so I can get to my 2nd fking partition ffff%$$q

But yeah, I had to end those too.

I use Windows 7 and my brother uses Windows 8.1. I've used it a few times on his computer and it's ok most of the times I've used it. I prefer Windows 7 though.

I've seen screenshots for Windows 10 and it seems better than Windows 8.1. I will probably read reviews for it once it's officially released and see whether I'll give it a go or not.

Sounds like PEBKAC to me

There was one Windows Update on 8.1 that messed up for me, had to reinstall quite a number of times until I realized that one of the KB in Windows Update were to blame. Disabled it, been using 8.1 flawlessly ever since.

Just got Windows 8.1 because I had to get a new laptop as the other one I had before kicked it. Went from 7 which I liked to 8.1 which is ok, but I liked 7 better. I'll see the reviews for Win10 and might upgrade to it since I have no attachment to this OS.(From all the versions I've used XP, 7 and 8.1; I think I actually liked XP the best.)
