Exactly. There's even more to Makoto if you read the VN. You'll even see that at times he does in fact show remorse towards what he does. Shame the anime left it out though. Only reason why I'm spoiling is because people are too cowardly to even try it out. But Makoto ain't a flat character at all, and I know that it's true. Tomoya ain't got nothing on him.

People didn't watch it carefully though. Which is why all characterizations of him being a "sociopath" are hasty for the most part.
