Are we talking about anime labelled as ecchi or fanservice in anime? If it's the former, then what did you expect? If it's the latter, there are anime out there with little to no fanservice. MyAnimeList has a content rating system and labels for a reason. Plus with a search elsewhere you could get a general idea of what to expect. If something doesn't appeal to you, don't watch it.

No, people know there won't be more than a few nipples yet they still watch ecchi that alone should tell you nipples aren't the only reason they watch them.

It usually doesn't bother me. I've just gotten used to it. As long as a character isn't literally just a pair of boobs and they have other redeemable qualities, I don't really mind females being over-sexualized.

Nudity and sex don't bother me, and they never have. People get too uptight over such things. So the fact that an anime is tagged "ecchi" isn't necessarily a reason for me to watch it or to avoid it. However, many series in this category are ridiculously stupid, and the scenes featuring nudity, panty shots, and the like are poorly executed or superfluous. Sometimes, it is so bad that it is funny, i.e. Eiken, while sometimes it is an unnecessary distraction, i.e. Rosario+Vampire. Very rarely, an anime series that features nudity and/or sexually charged imagery actually seems to work well; the only one that comes to my mind at the moment is Mnemosyne.

While I certainly enjoy laughing at something that is impressively bad, I would like to see more ecchi or hentai that is well written and well executed. I feel like there is a lot of wasted potential in the genre.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

For me no, and sometimes i can think of it as nice or funny, but when the ecchi is 90% and the plot 10%...mhhh........
And there are animes that the ecchi is so stupid. (you know, like BIG BOOBs and i mean really big at the point that is ugly, and then bounces all over, wtfek)

When it comes to ecchi:

the only animes that have ecchi (and are advertised as ecchi) and also have a story to tell that I have enjoyed are:

DxD

HOTD

School Days (and I dont think the anime is an ecchi)

The final arc of Yosuga Sora (the other arc in that anime stink).

Thats it.

It depends. If the show is just boobs and nothing else then I find it boring not because it's an ecchi, but because the plot is secondary to the fanservice which is annoying. But, if they do it right I don't really see it as degrading or anything like that. It's just another genre which can have both good and bad shows like anything else.

usually its no problem. it can be annoying when its too much and also depending on how its done, but usually ecchi doesnt effect the end score or my enjoyment of an anime very much

not at all, depends on how it is done though
I tend to prefer anime that don't focus on ecchi but rather happen to have some ecchi scenes in it

Depends on which anime it is. If it's unnececery it's annoying but if the ecchi is there for a reason/more naturally I can stand it. If that makes sense.

No, I don't mind that it exists. Guys and girls who enjoy it: all power to them. I've watched it in comedy anime and it didn't distract at all.

I don't like it though in an anime that pretends to be serious, since I can't take it seriously with that.

I also don't like it when guys get super-angry about an anime like Free!. There are much more ecchi anime aimed at guys, so chill out and let the ladies enjoy something as well.

How can you say School Days is not ecchi lol School Days is the reason why I can't watch anything that's tagged as ecchi.

I don't care if a show has fanservice or not. It's the plots of the ecchi anime that annoy me more than the ecchi itself.

i don't mind it if i know what i'm getting into. if the fanservice is everywhere and i was expecting more focus on the plot + characters, then i'd be upset. and i don't care for comedy shows that use a lot of ecchi jokes (not my cup of tea)

In 99% of cases I don't watch anime tagged as Ecchi.

Most of those Harem/Ecchi shows are complete crap when it comes to actual plot and characters, so guys watch it for the fanservice, which I'm not interested in.

This doesn't apply to all shows that are tagged as Ecchi, but to the majority.

I feel too much ecchi and fanservice takes away from the genuinity of seeing a pair of boobs or panties. Nowadays a panty shot doesn't feel special anymore. And yes, I'm a girl.
I'd go with emobubbles, but someone else already had it, damn bastard.

If you're a woman and you're not into other women. Then you're probably watching the wrong genre of anime. I mean... I wouldn't go watch free! just to complain about the fanservice in it. However, I'm sure Free! made a lot of ladies cum. Afterall, I'm sure women love rubbing it off to anime just as much as men do, and they have the right to

And for that, it deserves respect. Women should also respect really ecchi shows like Kill la Kill, for making men like me cum

I don't have a problem with ecchi but more the fact that a lot of times the creators focus more on the panty-shots than they do on the actual story and that gets old really fast.

But when ecchi scenes start "happening" out of the blue, it makes me feel awkward, I feel like I'm not supposed to watch this haha

There are a million legitimate criticisms you can make about a shitty show like Highschool DxD and its shitty writing. Why waste your time complaining about the tits?

If it's tagged as Ecchi, then I tend to avoid it. It is not my thing and it does serve a different audience.

The moment Ecchi elements comes into anime that doesn't need it or detracts away from the plot or characters is where it gets on my tits.

I am a straight teenage male and personal I don't mind ecchi content, but it can get annoying at times. I think it just depends on what kind of material is backing it up. For example, I like High School Dxd, not specifically for the ecchi, but for the story as well. It has a somewhat decent story backing it up. In situations, where the story is trash and fan service is the only hype, it's boring. Prime example is Tonagura.

On that thought, do you suppose it would be possible for them to draw a guys balls if they didn't draw his dick? Would that be like boobs without nipples? Or do they consider it all part of the genital package & therefore too lewd for fragile minds to handle?

GAINAX didn't think the "package" was all that lewd (NSFW I suppose):

but then, it's GAINAX.

I tend to be very picky when it comes to watch a new anime. I, personally, dislike ecchi animes. Not that it makes me uncomfortable to watch, but it's just not the type of anime I look for or enjoy. I tried watching some anime tagged as ecchi, but after an episode or two I stopped, the story wasn't interesting enough nor the characters.

It actually really does, if ecchi is pretty much the whole plot, I don't find any reason to watch the anime. However, maybe that 1% of the time where the plot is really interesting and the ecchi doesn't overtake the plot then I would watch it.
