| I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I think it it's a debatable topic. Personally I can't stand it, it just annoys me so much, so I've never completed an ecchi I guess. It's unnecessary, it destroys the female characters and moreoverfor it just destroys the show overall. But I guess it might be because I'm female so I don't enjoy constant boob close ups and panty shots. So I was wondering if other females are bothered by it or do most of you just enjoy the anime without caring about it. |
| In 99% of cases I don't watch anime tagged as Ecchi. Most of those Harem/Ecchi shows are complete crap when it comes to actual plot and characters, so guys watch it for the fanservice, which I'm not interested in. This doesn't apply to all shows that are tagged as Ecchi, but to the majority. |

| There's only one good "ecchi for ecchi's sake" series and that's To Love-Ru. In all other cases I find myself "putting up with" ecchi if the rest of the show is good enough, but rarely does ecchi not make me cringe. It's that creepy indecision from anime makers if they want a show to be clean or if they want it to be full-on adult oriented. I wouldn't mind actual sex scenes half as much as I mind sneaking in sexual content into something that is rated PG-13. That's creepy. Either make it for all ages, or make it for adults, evading the rating system and finding ways to 'porn up' PG-13 shows is creepy and low. There are of course exceptions, and it all has to do with how tastefully it is done. The vast majority is tasteless though. Especially the ones that try to pass it off as metaphors or artificial depth, like Mawaru Penguindrum. Edit: I know this was for the female audience, but men can be annoyed too >:( |

| As a female, ecchi doesn't bother me, as a male, ecchi doesn't bother me. If anything I'll dislike how an anime(or how most anime) uses it(I'm actually more neutral) but I like sex(like almost everyone else in the world) so it does appeal to me. |
