| I don't find cliches bad but All cliches can be written badly and can be overused. The only ones that bother me are: 1)- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever (especially if it isn't the focus of the work and they just threw it in) To be fair, sometimes it is well done but usually it is just a waste of time. Show a huge monster then a character that was conveniently walking nearby slashes it with no effort, oh wow now that guy is a powerful monster slayer, gah. 2)- Obviously Evil: When the character is just evil for the sake of being evil (akamegakill comes to mind), they never have any ulterior motive beyond a lust for more power and the need to cause death and destruction for amusement. They have no redeeming factors, No master plan (just evil for the evulz with no logical motivations) No Well-Intentioned Extremist (like lets say Light from DeathNote, where he has an overall goal that you can appreciate in principle but the method for achieving it is a bit extreme like mass murder). I don't see why would an author need to make the bad guys ALL bad. It feels like he thinks the viewers are children or dumbasses. 3)- Accidental Pervert He isn't a pervert. No, really! His hands just happened to slip and find themselves on her breasts. He just happened to trip on that rug over there and land (probably head-first) on top of her ample chest. Maybe he needed to use the bathroom and ran into her taking a bath or a shower. And he just happened to be there when the only wind of the day blew up her skirt. |
