Cygames, the mobile game developer that produced Fall 2014's Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis, has announced on its official site that the company will be forming its own anime division. Applications for Anime Producer, Production Assistant, and IP Manager were posted with the announcement. In its mission statement, the company states its plans to not only adapt games currently copyrighted by Cygames, but to produce original anime works as well. Cygames' anime division aims to challenge itself to contribute to the anime industry with works that will remain in people's memories ten or twenty years into the future. In addition to Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis, Cygames also co-developed The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls mobile game with Bandai Namco Games. The latter's TV anime adaptation began airing this Winter. Is this the first time a game company has created their own Anime Division? I would love to see a comparison with another company. I feel it's a bit off to put applications for positions with the announcements but I can assume the division wouldn't hire amateurs. Also, congratulations Stark :) |

I hope this division can come up with some interesting original anime as well. Shingeki no Bahamut may be getting a season 2 in the future and I'd welcome it. Not familiar with some of their games though. |

Granted they were founded last month and have yet to announce a project either. Plus they're more of a multimedia company than just strictly games. |

I predict a new wave of mobile/video game adaptations to come. Slightly better than the LN trend? Well it doesn't seem like a bad start for now... hopefully we get better series. From what I recall mobile game adaptations are always lacking in something. SnB was not bad though, I wouldn't mind more of that. |

Then you have anime based off of other F2P games on other platforms that the game is absolute dogshit and/or a money pit (Mahou Shoujo Taisen Zanbatsu) but the anime ends up being the better product. It's like gambling on a rigged slot machine, you tend to know if you will win or lose and like with a rigged slot machine, you're probably going to lose. |

However, it's due to the lack of a solid premise or an mc which is the main cause of this. Compare it to Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls which does not have this requirement, it has a lot of disappointment to go around (it's getting better thank god) but it's very non-player and newbie friendly. |

If this gets up more shows like Bahamut (and also a Bahamut season 2 while they're at it) I'll gladly welcome this new with open arms. Even if we ignore the games they adapt, it should also be very interesting to see what original ideas they could come up with. |

Not a fan of mobile game anime, but it really depends on the writers for the anime. Bahamut was overrated by the way. it's not even good |
