Favorite horror franchise?
| I'm rebuilding my library of games after my mom gave away all my games to charity. I'm in a toughie here on what I should repurchase first so I'll use polls. Favorite horror franchise? |

| From the RE series I only like 4. I haven't played 2 and 3, but I'm not that fond of REmake, so I doubt I'd like them much. From the Silent Hill and Fatal Frame series, I only played a little bit of SH3 and FF2. They were okay. I haven't played any of the others. I really hope Alien: Isolation becomes a series so that I can say that. The first game has some problems, but the sequel could be amazing. |
| I've played/owned all of them except Fatal Frame. I'd say to get PE 1 and 2 first just for the replay value and because they're just that good, even though both games play completely different from each other. I don't really find them scary, but I guess on the first couple of plays PE2 could be a bit creepy until you start remembering where everything is. As an RE fan I'd say to just get all of them as well, but since the graphics of 2 and 3 haven't exactly aged well, they might be a turn-off...though this could be an issue for the PE games too, but I can personally look past that because old graphics don't bother me. Eternal Darkness was amazing. Not really even scary, but just so much fun to play and the different insanity effects were a riot. Too bad Silicon Knights couldn't duplicate that level of awesome in their later games. Silent Hill.....just get 3 and play it at night in the dark. All I gots to say on that. |
| Lol, I first read this as "Favorite horror fanservice?". Anyhow, to answer the proper question this thread is asking, I've always really enjoyed Silent Hill. Though with that said, Resident Evil is quite good. I have yet to play Fatal Frame, Eternal Darkness or Paradise Eve. |

| Parasite Eve, although it doesn't quite scare me as compared to Fatal Frame and Forbidden Siren. Only scary thing about PE is Toriyama's rendition of Maeda. Turned the dude into a borderline rapist. |
| omg don't make me choose one ;_; I absolutely love the Fatal Frame series, I also love Silent Hill 2-4 and Resident evil 3-4. I guess I'll vote for Resident Evil since 4 was not just my favorite horror, but also my favorite game as well^^ P.S.: Siren is another great but horribly underrated series, Siren: Blood Curse was the scariest horror game for me! |

| I haven't played too many horror franchises, but I enjoyed Resident Evil 1 & 2 when I was younger. But for me, Resident Evil died when the 4th one came out. |

| Silent Hill, definitely. I don't understand the love for Fatal Frame, personally. Resident Evil is alright. I don't consider Parasite Eve as a horror alongside RE and SH, but it's a good game. I'm not even sure what Eternal Darkness IS. |

| I love the early Silent Hill games, especially 3. It's a shame what happened to the franchise. RE is pretty good too, and unlike SH they didn't fuck the franchise up, it just evolved into something different. The worst of the main RE games was probably 6, and even then I didn't think it was that bad. Very stupid and over the top, but still fun to play. I wouldn't call Eternal Darkness a franchise. Wasn't there only one game? Great fucking game though. I wish I still had my gamecube to play it again. |
| In terms of horror, i think silent hill is king. Next up would probably be fatal frame. |
