It was revealed in the 14th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shounen Magazine that Diamond no Ace will be receiving a second season for April titled Diamond no A ~Second Season~ (Ace of Diamond ~Second Season~) with a different airing day of Monday at 18:00 instead of Sunday at 8:30. An uncolored anime visual for the new season was also previewed in the issue.

Last year, the first season was reported to be extended until March 2015.

Why end it if it's immediately going to be starting back up less than a couple weeks later? Production companies make no sense ;-;

I'm actually tearing up right now YEEEESSS. This is how much I love DnA. I don't have to say goodbye to DnA yet after all.

Yeah that's kind of weird. I don't think any of the anime I've watched or know of have separate seasons without having at least one season break in between. Not that I'm complaining. I think it makes sense in a way because after this current part in the anime, it does feel like a part 2. The whole first season is just basically getting into Seidou and the summer tournament. So season two is part two of transitioning into fall tournament and the beginning of fall tournament.

Hahaha, wow this is some good news! And here I thought I'd be parting ways with Ace of Diamond in a few weeks. Welp, at this point I'm hoping they'll finish the fall tournament.

Haven't even watched the first season, cause I was waiting for it to end. And there is going to be a second season? And it starts a week after the current one ends? What the fuck?

Wouldn't it make more sense to just have it continue on? Or does changing the day it airs somehow means it needs to have a new series?

Yes!! I was wondering when Diamond no Ace would start back up after the current season ended and I was really hoping it wouldn't be too long from then. But immediately after? I was not expecting that, haha. This is great news.

This is great news but I don't understand why they had to make a separate entry for season two. They might as well merge the two entries since season 2 is airing only 8 days after the season one finale. That's exactly what MAL did with Aikatsu.

I don't think Aikatsu! had different airing date (well, maybe for upcoming season it will be). I'm not saying why, but just mentioning this is probably the reason, though.

It still doesn't make much sense, according to MAL rules, since season 2 airs almost exactly a week after season 1. I could understand if there was a 2 week or more break in between, but that's not what's happening here. Diamond no Ace is simply moving from Sundays to Mondays now.

It certainly is great news!

I personally also think of this show as a good way to add anime towards the Long runner Achievement that I've always wanted, since I'm pretty sure they'll merge the two entries anyways. XD

YES! I'm definitely looking forward to this, since the fall tournament has some great moments. Nice to see I don't even have to wait - seems like I have to catch up a bit while the first season is still airing. And now I'll even be able to see the parts that haven't been scanslated yet in the manga - this is great!

Does somebody know how much material the manga has left for the anime? Are 50+ episodes even possible?

50+ episodes are definitely possible, as there are still around 180~190 chapters or so left.

On the contrary, i like how this show spends few weeks off. It stops the show from catching up to the Manga, it reduces filler, allows for a higher budget and more time per episode, gives the staff a much-needed (and much deserved) break, and means the anticipation can build for the series in the 'off season'. It is a smart strategy and I would be vehemently against Diamond no Ace turning into a weekly show.

It wouldn't make any sense if they'd adapt less than that, since almost everything that is left to be adapted is about the fall tournament. If they start it, they're going to finish adapting it, I'd say. So no need to worry there.

Shouldn't these be merged? I recall a DB mod (Cloudy) telling me that seasons need to be a few weeks apart to warrant a new database entry. It seems unreasonable.
(no I'm not complaining because of something I like not being split into three seasons why do you ask)
