| That was a bit of a darker episode, still a good episode though. The first couple times that Kamina called the kid "forehead" I cracked up. Interesting art direction with this episode too, the grey worked well. |
| Wow a Gurreen Lagann epiosde with a bit depth to it? The whole story with the "village" and their chief was very interesting, however felt Kamina like a retarded asshole (even more than usual). The black-white scenes and then going back to normal colors was a very nice idea to include. |

| Looks like the animation became way better than the last time I watched this~ I liked the village because it was easy on the eyes. I want Yoko to sit on my head... Oh, Yoko~ Of course you don't realize that your outfit's lewd. They should be praising her boobs rather than that Face God. Why did they cover her body?! The humanity. Kamina being a brash knucklehead as usual. Forehead boy lol. I hope he becomes more likable soon... That Gurren Lagann combination drill making me nervous as usual @_@ Turns out that the religion bit was actually a ruse to make the tragic 50-person limit possible. I chuckled at the twist that the priest can't read either. That smugface god spirit mimic fight scene was actually very awesome tho. Rossiu, Gimmy and Darry has now joined the party! May their passions shine like the light on Rossiu's forehead~ |

| I wonder if that incredibly deep abyss that the Gunmen fell down will be relevant at all. Do other underground villages have them? Do they link up to anything? But more than likely it was just a convenient death pit for the enemy to fall down and disappear. |

| Animation as I predicted is back to normal and this episode is focusing on a particular village that sees the gunmen as gods. And honestly as fast paced as Gurren Lagaan can be, I’m glad we get a more slower episode focusing on the world itself not that the action is a bore, it isn’t, it’s more or less the fact that we haven’t focused on the world we are in at this point in the show. Really liked the sort of monochrome for the entire episode apart from when Simon and Kamina combined to make Gurren Lagaan which I thought was a pretty neat touch there to contrast the dark caverns that make up the village. Yoko pretty much being told to cover up was amusing. XD Anyways this episode was definitely an improvement over episode 4, definitely a beautiful episode and engaging I feel. Plus team gurren has 3 new members in the form of Rossiu, Gimmy, and Darry. It sounds like this show is going to get serious but for now I prefer it’s comedic tone as a whole for the time being anyway. Otherwise a beautiful episode like I’ve said before and definitely something we needed as a change of pace in terms of Gurren Lagaan episodes so far anyway. |
