- Amahiko visits the gravesite of his mother and encounters Maki. She hands him the butterfly pendant, but doesn’t know why she's doing it and doesn't answer how she got it. Says Amahiko has changed, as she crouches by the gravesite of someone named Higurashi. The closest person I can think of is Makoto (the cafe owner), who’s last name is Higure.

- He leaves the gravesite and collapses outside the embankment, wishing the world would end and that he could forget. Glowing butterflies leave the tunnel and begin floating everywhere in the night as Amahiko proclaims that there is no God.

- He wakes up the next day and encounters Arie. She tells him she can see everything and that he doesn’t have to suffer anymore. All will be forgiven.

- Sweating profusely, he rips open her shirt, exposing her breasts and the pendant. He shoves her to the ground and starts raping her.

- Meanwhile, she tells him to listen, and that he could hear their mother’s voice. Suddenly, he punches her over and over in the face until she bleeds and then begins choking her. He weakly calls for his Mother and then starts screaming and running like a madman.

- As he does, the butterflies surround him and whisk him away. He reappears next to Arie, who is standing over him at the same place they met, as if nothing has happened.
