Awesome, Shirobako is doing well for a Fall title. Very happy to see that! I suppose Penguindrum will be doing better than Yuri Kuma. Idolmaster Cinderella dominating the the CD Singles section. Not surprising though.

Kind of surprise to see Zen the Hollywood franchise. Otherwise, I don't have much new CD that interests me.

Shirobako vol 1 sold 5,725 in its first week, watching it creep up week by week to finally break the 10k mark has been heartening. Is this purely down to stock issues or has good word of mouth been a factor?

Fall 2014 has been a fun season to watch the sales, specially because of YuYuYu and Shirobako's slow climb to the 10k mark.
Its kinda funny to think that back in November and even in early December most predicted both series to do nothing more than a 5k

Ah, Shirobako just keeps on going, seems like we have our second best seller for Fall, don't really mind though, would like if Yuuki Yuuna took the spot but I love both shows, as long as they sell it's ok.

Tsuki also selling pretty low for Monogatari, not sure if it's because this arc sucked (it did) or if it's because the series is in it's 25th or something release.

It's Nina Ichihara btw

Those 13k sales, it's a shame A-1 didn't have the foresight to put best girls like her in the main cast. Her CD is the more enjoyable of the bunch and by far one of the most enjoyable of the 35.

I also have Kanade's as well

I don't think A-1 gets to make that call. They can probably run it by the production committee and Bandai Namco but I'm pretty sure the latter has the final say. Anyway Cinderella Girls singles seem kind of small time compared to Love Live character singles these days. I had heard that Fuyu Ga Kureta Yokan was going to be certified gold so it must have actually crossed the 100K mark and those numbers are inaccurate. If so that makes it the fourth Love Live disc to do so along with the u's Best, the 2nd season opener and Takaramonos/Paradise Live.

Anyway extremely surprised at Shirobako being a 10K seller. It just does not seem like it should have the pieces to be one really. Must be getting some support from industry people or something.

If it's Bandai-Namco doing the approval then I'm not surprised they approved such a bad cast, they haven't been quite on their A-game recently with the ToZ Fiasco with how they handled Alisha (and the marketing of her), they also shipped the Vita version of Gundam Breaker 2 with a nasty save corruption bug.

The director already said that the girls were chosen as the ones with the most room for character growth, and the choices definitely reflect that of a cast that has the most variety. There's not much reason for Bandai Namco to care much about who gets chosen as long as they get to cramp as many cameos into the anime as possible, since CG fans were always going to be upset about any of their favorites being left out. Which is inevitable.

Its episodes have been generating a lot of discussions and there seems to be a strong word of mouth for the series. It's still a series with a cast of cute females too...

But I can't lie that I'm surprised for it doing well too, I sincerely thought that the girls being older than schoolage would seriously cause the otaku crowd to avoid it like the plague, luckily for the production team it didn't

Shirobako is PA Work's most successful work as of recent huh. Happy for them because I like their works (minus you know what anime), although none of them in particular have been incredibly amazing, but I still highly enjoyed most of the series I watched from them. They seem to do a lot of original works too, which is always refreshing, despite not having a lot of sales.

It is not as inaccurate as you would think. It is more that Oricon doesn't cover every POS in Japan (but they of course cover the major ones such as Amazon). The Love Live! music is distributed by Lantis, who has an online store. Lantis doesn't report their sales to Oricon, so any sales from their own online store will end up not being reported, and will thus contribute to this supposed "inaccuracy".

The other thing, is that the Gold Disc Certification from the RIAJ there, is based on it having shipped more than 100K copies. It does not distinguish whether the discs are still sitting in store stock waiting to be sold (Oricon only counts sold copies), or was shipped to overseas buyers (Oricon does count this, but is not included in the domestic market numbers published on Oricon Youtaiju). These two factors will also contribute to this supposed "inaccuracy", although the overseas market is a drop in the ocean compared to the domestic market anyhow.

On the Gold Disc Certification for the mobile game collaboration BiBi subunit song "冬がくれた予感" by BiBi, it was as quick as the 2nd Season OP "それは僕たちの奇跡" by μ's, to obtain such a certification after its release date. It really shows the cross marketing power of a relatively young multimedia franchise as Love Live!, which is specifically the advertisement of the Love Live! discography provided by the Sukufesu mobile game.

Holy shit go fafner. Good cause for as flawed as the first series was at times there was alot of good in it(mainly in the 2nd half the start is pretty bland) and exodus seems to be building up to something quite grand. The new season also deserves points for making CG mech fights actually look good

i just hope the episode count is wrong here or at least it will be 2 cour cause its moving too slow and with too much plot to be finished in 13 episodes, they originally announced 26 so hopefully that is true.

Stalker estimates of this season.

18.9k Kantai Collection -KanColle-
11.3k Kuruko Basketball S3
*8.6k JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Stardust Crusaders Egypt-hen
*8.5k iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girl
*5.0k Shinmai Maou no Testament
*3.8k Durarara!! x2 Shou
*3.8k Aldnoah.Zero 2
*3.3k Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata
*2.8k Tokyo Ghoul √A
*2.5k Dog Days"
*2.0k Koufuku Graffiti
Would be nice to add that most of Cinderella sales will come from G4U sets so its actual sales will be more than double of what stalker predicts (it doesn't track games sales and G4U bundle is treated as one).

We should also double the stalker points for Ald.0, Saenai, Durarara and Dog Days", thanks to Aniplex

They do increase and decrease over sometime but no so much. They are mostly accurate for 80% of the shows in a season and there are times 1-2 shows were highly overestimated/underestimated in a season. In the end, they're estimates after all.

As for TG, it seems plausible. May be because of it's rising popularity. Gotta show them that it's popular enough even for a bad S1 and anime-original S2.

They increase and decrease over time, and they are usually not accurate and has been getting increasingly inaccurate in recent times. But series that rank high on the list are likely to sell decently, while those near the bottom are probably going to be tanks.

I'm surprised AssClass isn't doing well despite its popularity and success with the manga.

Shounen adaptations don't really sell BDs, except for Gintama.

Most of them only sell thanks to female fans. AssClass doesn't appeal to them as much.
Edit: Bleach didn't sell well in its last years. JoJo is very special exception as it has much older, well established fanbase. Now look at all of shounen adaptations instead of naming very few which actually sold as your post didn't disprove what I said.

Doesn't matter, it sold great in the early volumes, which is what we are judging AssClass with.

What I said did disprove you. You said Shounen adaptation don't sell well, I provided examples proving otherwise, I don't need to prove the majority sell well, just some, because your statement is very board I could have listed Lucky Star, but didn't because you are most likely referring to battle anime and/or long running ones.
