| There's been school violence in Japan along with at least 3 instances of deranged students killing their family or friends for fun (including 1 this year who killed her friend from a religious meeting for the same reasons). |

He sees the opportunity and takes it. Other students die. Even if the other students open fire on the shooter, the shooter might be able to take some of them out. though i suppose its better than just the shooter having a gun. besides a weapon is a weapon a kitchen knife can be fatal... hell a fork can |

| You know, I've watched a couple different anime that involve high school students owning firearms and other weapons. war. To say the implications as an American a human being are unfortunate is an understatement. People have died because of school shootings. because of war I'm also entirely aware that Japan's gun laws basically don't allow anyone other than law enforcement and the military to own firearms. most of the world isn't at war. What do you think? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basically, sure, maybe you're right, but the fact that there are a very few crazy people in the world commiting such atrocities doesn't mean much in terms of the entertaining industry. What I'd really hate is to live in a society where content were to be so severely censored. As sad as it might be, crazy people will not cease to exist because of censorship in anime or things like that. If someone was crazy enough to shoot people in his school because he watched Assassination Classroom (or whatever, really. That's just a random example I took from this post), then he'll find a way to do something crazy even without the anime. It's not the anime's fault that someone acts that way. The individual is the one to blame, 100%. A person needs to know how to separate reality from fiction. And if he can't, then he shouldn't be watching anime in the first place, he should be in a rehabilitation center. |

You haven't made a point about anything. the OP is trying to say that because of the lack of guns and gun violence in Japan... anime insultingly trivializes guns as well as gun violence, since it's not as serious of an issue of there as it is in America.... To me personally, that's some liberal bullshit. Guns are awesome. Anime is awesome. Cute high school girls are awesome... put em together. I actually heard an online critic named Jesuotaku make this same exact point when talking about Stella Womens Academy.... and it was bullshit there too.
