| What the fuck are you guys talking about? If anything, anime/Japanese crap are a big hit in the West especially the US. There are dozens of annuals anime cons all over the country and in New York alone there are tons of shit Japanese gaming events/otaku culture bullshit. Sure it may not be as big as it is in the East but it's far from being an unpopular industry in the West. In fact, look around. Most of you are Westerners. |

| I think the reason is because it's just not as popular here because it's just not. Japan is where it comes from and many of the citizens are constantly being exposed to it. While here casuals are only exposed to the pleb shows and not everyone fully grasps what it is. Some think it's for kids and some think it's all porn involving school girls and tentacles. | Aside from sterotyping them as for kids, they have cartoons. And for anime they prefer dubs over subs when its on tv. Not to mention almost all cartoons there is comedy oriented and not plot wise that anime on the other hand have. Plus finding someone who really 'fits' for a dubbing that suits the taste of many is a tiring one for them coz viewers might stop watching that results to less viewer/less profit to tv networks. Thay results to less show, less popularity |
