No, that wasn't the case. It was their own decision about giving most animation work to Picture Magic. They still own all the rights to this show and all "complementary" materials (video games, advertising and stuff). But Saki season 2 would be a problem cause there's no more manga left to animate anyway. kokoku said: the good about AIC only Seto no Hanayome..pfff.. AIC only provided animation assistance for Seto no Hanayome. This show was almost entirely produced by Gonzo. Modified by seishi-sama, 11-27-09, 2:37 AM |

Fun or not, plot was poor. At least Sky Girls was strong at that particular part. Gonzo never really did anything fantastic, with the sole exception of maybe Welcome to the NHK. About time for them to go IMO. EDIT: Argh, looking at the lineup, GONZO might well be better than AIC. Argh... |

I think I just heard the final weeping death cry of Gonzo. And it was sad.;_; If Gonzo were a loli, it would be starving and lying in some alley right now trying to possibly get on their feet. And the taking of Strike Witches away is like a stranger finally pummeling her and shooting her in the gut. ![]() Old avatar and sig retired for now. |

Well, outsourcing is quite common in the anime industry, and it usually costs less to pay the staff from other company than to do everything by themselves. What's unusual is that Picture Magic did all main animation work, and Gonzo just assisted with some stuff (like 3D animation I guess), not the other way around. I guess we'll never get to know the actual reason. And, well, people shouldn't proclaim Gonzo as dead. It's unlikely that the company will be closed, they'll just switch their priorities from a prolific creators to an animation assistance studio, doing random jobs for other companies, and maybe occasionally creating something on their own. |

Once they were doing few good shows per year with very high production value, now they're doing an enormous amount of shows with mediocre production value, of which some are good, and some are...not so good. The problem is that, besides simply making good shows in the past, Gonzo were making unique, experimental and provocative shows. AIC doesn't. Well it's bad news indeed. Hopefully AIC won't fail, and hopefully Gonzo will find something else to animate (Alive, I'm talking about you!!!). Somehow I'm still pissed off with Gonzo because failed to animate Alive :X Doing lots of pointless anime rather than kick-ass show makes them in deep shit. Now Gonzo you have given Pantsu Witches to AIC,when you will animate FullMetal Panic season 3? A bit off topic, but I think the reason FMP 3 hasn't been animted yet is there is still one more book to be written. ( I remembered readin somewhere the authur said in the next book they will be wrapping everything up and finishing the series) |

So when is Gonzo gonna kick the bucket, they haven't made a watchable anime in ages. It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, it doesn't laugh or cry..... All it does from dusk till dawn is make the soldiers die. |

Besides, Gonzo is synonym for produced mecha anime series like Linebarrell,Vandread,Bokurano & etc so I accidentally associated FMP with Gonzo. |

At first I thought this meant that we wouldn't get any more Strike Witches; But as long as there will be a second season, then I'm fine. Still, what's going on with GONZO is truly a shame. |

Whoa, it looks like AIC is taking over GONZO's place in the industry. Anyone else notice the dramatic rise in anime produced by AIC? |

NOOO !!! Not Gonzo !! The Full Metal Panic ! series and Kiddy Grade were really good . I also love Kaleido Star ( one of the best anime series there) and Blue drop. And Chrno Crusade had a huge success . I hope they'll manage to create another masterpiece and save themselves really quick ! |

Wasn't it said by dtshyk last time this came up that Gonzo had very little to do with SnH? dtshyk said: @seishi-sama It's pretty off topic but let me tell you one thing. AIC did most of the anime production and Gonzo acted as a producer (製作者). Director Kishi and AIC staff disclosed it in a symposium of Seto no Hanayome. Article about the symposium (Moura) 「『GONZOxAIC』ってなってますけど、制作はAICでやってますんで褒めてください!」 Although it's credited as GONZO x AIC, the anime production was done by AIC. So please praise us! I hope they won't change anything, like art stile or characters. |
