| I totally get the appeal; hentai isn't "real" so you can do a lot more with it. Plus, it's different and different is usually exciting when you need a change of pace from regular porn. I just wish it was better animated. I can't get into it when it's so stuttery and poorly drawn. Plus I kinda feel like hentai is a really untapped medium, I know everyone says "hentai plot" as a joke but there is a ton of narrative potential in a medium as diverse and open as hentai. |

| I like hentai just for the fact that unlike 99% of romance anime out there, the relationships actually GO SOMEWHERE!!!! I do enjoy more story-based hentai out there where the sex scenes take up a fairly small portion of the series. A few examples that come to mind are... One: Kagakaky Kisetu e - True Stories - I think I did the math on this once and the sex scenes on average took up just seven minutes of the 30 minute episodes. The rest of it was plot and character development...something you don't see in a ton of hentai. Suika - Pretty similar to One: True Stories in a lot of ways, except it is three individual stories in the same setting rather than one flowing narrative. Still, the sex scenes take up very little time in the episodes and there's more of an emphasis put on the plot and characters rather than the sex scenes. Words Worth - Shit, this would make for a pretty good fantasy anime period, let alone a hentai. Genmukan - Probably a little heavier on the sex scenes than the top three, but I found the plot and story to be at least somewhat interesting. It unfortunately doesn't put much emphasis on any relationships unlike the top three I listed. |
