| There are more and more complicated legal considerations as Japan has revised its laws about the limits on sexual content of comic books. To make things even more complicated, these laws can vary from city to city. So for example, Tokyo has its own laws. That applied to what manga/doujinshi could be sold. However, it also applied to what could be possessed. As a result, it was a nightmare for used bookstores and collectors since there are serious legal consequences for possessing the wrong thing. I think they were given a one- year grace period to sort through them, carefully check each page and toss them all out. So, I guess my amateur advice would be to suggest that people completely avoid creating doujinshi which sexualizes the characters in any way, even if they are sexualized to some extent in the original work. You definitely don't want to draw something illegal, since you can seriously mess up your life. |
