| Light Yagami from Death Note. He is the single most symbolic character I've ever seen, not only in anime but in maybe all of literature. He is like everyone on Mal in the way that he was a human being that was "innocent" and had the stability to have a house to live in, computer to be on, opportunity to go to school (in which he unlike us probably) is a top student. His view of the world was a reflection of what many people think today, including Tsugumi Ohba (Creator of Death Note), Me, and millions of other: The world is rotten and it's being infected by rotten people. Now, what is the best way to serve true justice and rid the world of evil? Is it to abide by the law and pass righteous judgement accordingly with the law? But what if the law is corrupt? Is it better to take matters into one's own hands if you have the ability to pass judgement upon the wicked? The Death Note is the apple of temptation + a divine power that literally made Light Yagami a god. Now the apple of temptation divides the Good of Light Yagami - Teenager who wants to rid the world of evil (pure dream) and the Evil of Light Yagami - A mass murderer who will do anything to achieve his dreams of ridding the world of evil... even if it means becoming evil himself. His choice to get blood on his hands (loss of innocence) and have a god complex eventually led to his downfall. Upon his downfall Light Yagami reflects upon everything he's done and regrets it deeply. He sees an image of his old innocent self and cries. His ending is set in the middle of the darkness and the light on stairs, the symbol of ascension and descension. Now everything is left up to the audience to deem him as a purely evil character or a ambiguous one whose morales were corrupt but perhaps it wasn't him that was corrupt but rather the absolute power that was bestowed upon him. Light's entire character is a message to the audience: (You can find this out on your on). If you guys want to be all deep and pretentious then you can even argue that Light Yagami was a character that was 1/3 human, 1/3 Jesus, and 1/3 Satan. Watch the show and you'll know what I mean, I'm too lazy to write an essay here. My appeal? Deep/Symbolic, Chill, or I just feel a bit attached to their characters. |

| I prefer characters that are visually pleasing, relatable and outgoing. Characters with a great personality, e.g Gon Freecs from Hunter x Hunter, friendly and relatable when he is with friends, but when he is fighting he means business. |

| namikaze minato: HE'S JUST TOO GOOD FOR THIS WORLD I JUST MY KOKORO IS BROKORO hisoka/yagami light/kaneki ken: what can i say i love my antagonists, antiheros, highly intelligent psychos okabe rintarou: very intelligent and super awkward and weird. what's not to love guts: he's the badasseesssstttt. amaki ikuma: he's obsessed with owls and he's an idiot??? uchiha itachi: i used to love him back in the day cuz i thought he was going to be a great, evil antagonist (which he obviously was) but then HE GOT ME ALL SENTIMENTAL AND UGH shishio satsuki: he's a doofus but really adorable and lovable. and he dresses like a guy i'd date 10/10 would recommend chuuzenji akihiko: my baby boy unggh. he's super intelligent and knows a lot about all kinds of things. he's also weird because of (spoiler) i think i mostly just really like super intelligent characters, antagonists/antiheros and also people who are plain weird. and i guess i also like characters with really huge hearts (as long as they are badass enough lmao) |
