| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- It's really different from Mononoke but I really liked this Edo atmosphere. The art was really nice, different from Mononoke again, but still nice. Though the movements were a little bit off. Thus far I don't really see how it is horror or fantasy, but I guess we will see it in the next episode. This arc pretty much looks like a story about tradition, vengeance and all in the Edo period and even if there's no fantasy or horror elements, I'll probably enjoy this story. I really like this kind of story. |

| The episode was okay - pretty slow paced but there was just enough there to hold my interest. I have to say though that I thought the OP for this series did not really fit. First of all, the song just was not that great; but, more importantly, it did not match up with the tone of the show. |

| Watching this right after I just finished Mononoke, seems interesting so far. Not much happened in this episode (horror wise) but i'm guessing it's gonna start to pick up in the next episode. |

| Much like everyone else, found it decent with promise of getting better. If it's anything like Mononoke it should be worthwhile. I don't think by "horror" they mean "nightmarish" though, more like "extremely tragic" so won't expect many frights. |

| As I finish one samurai anime, another one begins~ I was about to start Mononoke then to my surprise, it had this as a prequel. Lol wtf is with that OP xD I surely didn't expect that but it's likable. Someone needs to tell PensionAuthor-sama that his scary story is a typical Edo folktale lol. | Eww man, both of those guys are terrible and gross. That end made me feel sick. Everything looks exaggerated like a play, just like the original tale. Fairly limited animation. Neat stuff. |
| It was quite a chore to keep up along until I managed to pin down the different characters, then it all clicked, it's going to be great if it kept up with the same pacing. They really nailed the Japanese aesthetics and art style, the characters feel more Japanese most shows and blend really well with the historical direction the story is aiming for. It's looking to be a story about betrayal on a great scale, I thought the secret lover was going to be soft and innocent, but it seems that love is a drug that draws the worse imaginable side of us. |

| Preety intresting start. Uff, No horror element, ig it will come in future. This whole 24 mins ep felt like so long and it seemed slow paced... But while midway of the ep caught my attention and i got focused to this ep. Tragic ep. OP was really bad, seriously. It doesn't even fits the whole theme of this show. Soundtracks are 7/10 and The ED was Good Light years better then Op imo. I liked how they shown the EDO period. Start was interesting let's see what next this series delivers.... |

| I started banging to this opening instantly I heard it. Animation was like from 80s, it's Toei thing I guess. Also was very surprised when that skinny mononoke guy spoke in Leeron's voice, had no idea it was him! My bad I haven't recognized L in fat mononoke guy though, but it legit was modified to sound more toad-like. |
Amano is a fantastic character designer and artist, but man does his style look bad with this cheap animation team. The lack of stylistic brushstrokes kills the proportions. |

| (gogoanime has its 1st and 2nd arc swapped for some reason) jfc just when I thought a mc couldn't get any worse than the one in the tomihime arc the show proves me wrong with this bastard... how horrible He killed his in law just like that... well at least its because he wants to be with her so badly that he would kill any obstacle... hah SIKE you thought, he gets tired and neglects both her and his child :facepalm: I guess since he's her husband I could understand her believing that it wasn't him who killed his father. But the other woman, SERIOUSLY? Why on earth would you believe that creep's words after he mentioned right in front of you he would get revenge... And he happens to appear at the same spot 5 secs after you find him dead xD like wtf so stupid. The ripping off hair part is so gruesome As soon as I saw that bitch with the red paper i thought yup, poison... Is it just me though or are the characters super hard to distinguish. Especially the old men and the women. |

| The animation quality was all over the place. The backgrounds are very nice, but whenever there wasn't a close up of a character, they were haphazardly drawn. I suppose budget went on certain shots, but it dang is it distracting lol |
