I haven't seen it in any recent anime (well I think) but there are some series which add like an extra scene after the ED (eg. HOTD and some of FMAB first thing that came to mind) and that scene is important but like you don't realize cause you skip the ED (cmon, 90% people do, don't tell me no one does) and then in the next ep you're like "dafuq just happened? Did I miss something important?" anyway...you kinda get the idea

What do you guys think of this?

I just dunno why makers could just add it before the Ending or something, unless the whole point is to make viewers watch the ED, but I dunno why they'd try push that to people...just seems dumb and it's annoying if I miss something important with it.

Took me 8 episodes to realise Barakamon had stuff after the ending. It's god damn annoying I agree.

Hmm, Yowamushi Pedal and Gundam Build Fighters (the old one moreso) always has after-the-credits scenes.

If they did it, it'd better be consistently there or I'll forget about it and then not watch it a few episodes later :/ Most of the time, I notice because I've gotten so used to episode lengths that the bar at the bottom looks disproportional to me. lol

Thankfully most of the anime I watch has good enough ED's.

For omakes with comical purposes: I'm guessing they put it at the end in order to not break the tone or mood that they built up in the episode.

For important-to-the-plot scenes: Probably to make people watch the ads after the ED, so that they can then see that scene?

Steins Gate had the ED interrupted in one of the last episodes for some extra story. I was marathoning it and I only happened to not skip that one because it was a different song.

I don't see how people manage to miss scenes right after EDs, just move forward 1 min and 30 secs.

Manga masterrace.

OT: since i download everything i watch and most of them are BDs, you can tell if there are parts after the ED with your media player. so i don't suffer from this problem.

LOL you guys XD it's okay I missed the first two. It's okay, they weren't important at all, just more cuteness from Naru and comedy from Handa I think...

Donten ni Warau from this season I think has been doing this almost every episode (if not, maybe every episode and not just almost?), and I always almost miss it.

But yeah, this. This would be the only reason why I don't miss the end parts all that much anymore. Even if I skip the EDs, I usually will go a few seconds before the end to see if there is something more.

I've learned to take an extra second of my time to skip past the ending song and see if there's stuff for me to look at. I'm the type of guy who likes watching previews too.

You know when it really sucks? In games when you don't know if skipping credits will still play the scenes afterwards or if there even is any scenes afterwards, and the credits can be damn long.

I don't have that problem because I usually like the endings and don't skip them. If I don't like the ending and skip it I still look for extra content (mainly preview of next episode) after it. Bleach had different short comedy segments after the endings and I always looked for them after the endings. While watching Amagi Brilliant Park now I skip the ending but still look for the segment after it where they talk about specific attractions in the park.

I am aware that they might be some more stuff after the ending so I always check it out. However, some of my friends had some trouble with that because they thought an episode is over when they see the ending sequence play. Stupid of them, I know.

I've made it a habit to always check after the ED/credits in anything to see if there's something additional to see, so it doesn't bother me much.

Bordering on off-topic, but I hate it even more when I'm thrown back to the main menu after the credits without being allowed to save.

It's almost as if this stuff is designed to be watched on a linear playback device without the ability to fast forward, rewind, or skip -- the creators don't want people switching the set off or changing the channel after the main body of the episode ends, they want people watching the whole thing. They want people to watch the ED, see the credits of the staff who worked on the episode, hear the song from the band that the production committee's music label wants to promote, and get hyped up for next week's episode via significant epilogue scenes and/or previews.

So essentially, if you hit "stop" or go to the next episode as soon as the ED starts, you're doing it wrong. I always watch previews and check for epilogue scenes. While I will skip EDs somewhat often, I'll either only skip the ED chapter, or manually jump forward 01:30. And though everybody today whines when some downloaded .mkvs don't have chapter stops, remember that once upon a time all new TV-fansubs were .avis and had no chapters. Though I am somewhat annoyed when I DL an .mp4 release from a group that did chapters for their .mkv version but not the .mp4, since .mp4s do support chapters. Virtually all DVDs and Blu-Rays have chapter stops for prologue/OP/Part 1/Part 2/ED/Epilogue/Preview, though some older discs and a few newer discs are missing some, making manual fast-forwarding necessary.

Huh... thanks god I never skipped ED. Every time I watch a movie/anime, I make sure that it really stop, I mean really after the player shows you that replay button. I don't want to get Marvel-ed all over again... :/
HOW TO SAVE ANIME IN THREE SIMPLE STEPS

  1. To have Mars of Destruction, Skelter Heaven, and Pupa properly adapted in TV series form by Madhouse
  2. To have Inferno Cop properly adapted in TV series form by Bones, director: Urobuchi Gen
  3. An anime crossover of Mushishi x ARIA x Haibane Renmei.

Should even one of the above conditions cannot be done, anime is still at risk.

I don't mind it in anime since I almost never skip the ending and you could just skip till a few seconds before the video is done to see if there's no extra scene.

You know what's really annoying? Post-credit scenes in movies. Once the movie ends everyone starts walking out so I also follow.

Yep. It is pretty damn annoying.
Especially when it is incredibly short so you can't judge from the remaining time if there is extra material or not.

I dislike previews for next episodes so it's hard to stay for me after until the ending theme ends in case i might find spoilers. Also i don't like the very idea of extras after credits. Usually i check in 1-2 first eps if the series has a way of putting extra scenes at the end - if not then i don't check anymore.

The best way is when there's some notification before credits about additional scenes.

I watched an anime where they jumped to the credits and then the main character said, wait its not time yet if that counts.

I kind of like it if its the last episode, gives you a little bit more before it ends.
