| So anyone want to actually elaborate. I think the anime is bad but i'm still kinda interested checking out the manga because i got the impression that it's not just slightly different. So if the manga is actually lot better then please let me know. |
| If I remember correctly, the first 3 volumes are pretty much the same as the anime and then it changes quite a bit. They have completely different endings. |
| At first, you should know, that director hated original story, and (possibly rumoured) even posted in his Twitter, that fans of manga should not better watch anime for avoid disappointment and hatred towards him. So the first 1-2 episodes adapted manga plot enough accurate, but from Cocopelly's death and Sadistic Mickey Mouse first appearance, difference grow with every episode. Another order of fights, another types of enemies, another backstory of characters, another role of adult... Even SDM not "necessary evil with philosophical tone" but cowardly schmuck until very end. Oh, just need to say that all source and goal of that "Super Robot Wars" are harshly different! And so, answering your question - yes, dirrerences are HUGE, not just big. So if you read the manga after anime, think about it as completely new story. |
| While I enjoyed the anime the manga is far better, the ending of the manga is one of the most harrowing things I've ever seen. It really deserves a faithful anime adaptation, I think a lot of people would be blown away if they knew how awesome the true story of bokurano is. |
