Why did you join this club or other small clubs in general?

Hmm...the benefits of joining a big club (1k+) members gives pretty obvious reasons why a person would join it. So, how about the small clubs like this one?

Is there a generalized reason why a person would join a small club over a big club? If so, what is it?
Or perhaps joining a smaller club is just surprisingly attractive (explain please ^^) or for other personal reasons?
