Not disappointed so far. Shinji annoyed me for a bit, but I'd understand his position.

Anyway, I'm glad i started this. Normally it's the art that attracts me to an anime so I would have never thought to start this if it wasn't for the "classic" label it has and for the reviews I read. However, for that time, the art is not bad and the plot seems pretty interesting. Also, the first episodes always seem quite wired to me but this one didn't. I really enjoyed it and I hope the rest of the series is even better as everyone says. I have high expectations for this.

This episode was interesting. Best part was when Rei showed up.

I have a feeling the physiological battles that Shinji is going to face is going to be the highlight of this anime.

The mecha...eh. I have never enjoyed the mecha for this series at all.

Art is amazing. Exactly the kind of stuff I love.

Just get in the damn robot, Shinji. I can't believe I thought he actually wasn't going to the entire time. What kid doesn't want to get in a giant mech?

Nothing really special about this first episode, except for the cool chick who was hospitalized. I didn't like how undetermined Shinji was - how can he even think about leaving that sick girl be the pilot?

Rewatching this series, it really has been years! Great first episode! The angels truly are very scary! Also, unlike popular opinion, I really like Shinji as a character and don't find him annoying at all. He's angst-y with reason.

Was ok... Since its an older anime i didnt expect the art style to be what im use to watching. Its like DBZ. Im on episode 3 now... getting better =)

Also NGE throws religious symbolism with a subtlety of Nanohas Divine Buster.

I was expecting a little more ''umph'' out of the first episode. But, the progression kept everything moving and the anime didn't fall short on a good opening. I'm hoping for some good story progression within the next few episodes! I can't believe I haven't watched this anime yet. I've heard so much about it, too. Looking forward to the next!

Why is everyone jumping on that hospitalized chicks pussy already? We only saw 3 seconds of her, and she didn't even do anything.

It’s been a couple years cense I last watched it and the OP just blew me away. I forgot how awesome it was.

I like the art of this, kinda reminds me of the way Cowboy Bebop looks like.
Well, it is interesting, I have some complaints and a lot of questions but I'll just continue watching..

Quite nice start I must say, I normally don't watch mech anime because I'm not an all to big fan for them, but this one got recommended to me so lets have a look if it can entertain me or not! For this first episode it wasn't all to bad, I do need to keep in mind that it's rather an old anime so I can't judge to much on art and animation so mostly this will rely on story for me!

Lets see how everything goes, the cliffhanger was nice lets see who'll win!

NGE wasn't praised for nothing episode 1 was just great.

Thoughts from episode 01:

Nice how apocalyptic is already been introduced here like those angels and nuke's a lot of explosions in this episode also. Hopefully they are going to explain everything about Shinji's past and Ikari Gendo. Gendo seems really interesting character here. Now it's nice to see this is set in 2015 but are they going to tell us about anything what happened in before Angels came to earth.

Also what does definition "Third Chosen Child" mean when Misato said that to Shinj.i Is he maybe the third one who has ever controlled Evangelion. This is mystery now.

So NERV is secret organization whose been fighting Angels for a long time now I suppose. and commander of the Organizarion is Shinji's father Gendo. I like Gendo's sunglasses pretty beast.

EVA-01 or Evangelion really interesting mecha robot. So they have some kind of soul on them. And they don't work if they aren't plugged to power supply. That bubble thing water or some kind of slim was really weird inside of it.

Now what I can tell from Shinji in this episode. He had very bad relationship with his father. Obviously because Shinji's father wasn't home always. Maybe he had motive or something for it. We don't now anything about Shinji's mom yet.

Shinji first didn't want to pilot the evangelion because he was afraid that thing. But when Rei Ayanami mysterious girl showed up. He didn't want Rei to pilot the evangelion in sick. So that's why he decided to change his mind because of Rei. We can call this character development here too.

Now that Misato girl. I like his character it's lively and childish one too. But gotta just love how he is trying to tease Shinji a little bit.

Animation is old but I like it it's like DBZ art style. Voice actors are ok too. I don't so much like Shinji's voice actor.

Overall now idea who is going to win Angel vs Eva this is going to be interesting. Ending song was just laughable.

This was a pretty good first episode; however, I have to say, that if this was a Gundam series then Shinji would have been slapped at least once by now.

Someone how I'm hoping this happens in 2 years.
