So there's an anime adaptation for Gods Eater but not Monster Hunter?

Game-to-anime adaptions usually fail hard, so do you really want an anime adaption for Monster Hunter?

I hope it will cover the whole god eater burst, not just the original god eater storyline only.

Didn't read the title properly and for a second I thought it said Soul Eater <_<

Never played the game, so idk. Will wait for more information before I decide.

For one the title sounds strange. "god eater" is it about someone who can eat god and then use their power or something?

anyway might as well check it out

Although I haven't played the games, I've been kinda hoping for it to receive an anime ever since I saw one of the series' anime intros and liked its character designs.

So in the end it all boils down to

tho, lol.

Ufotable being in charge of it should at least guarantee some nice actions scenes and animation quality, if nothing else.

1. I bet its CGI

2. They called it God Eater because religion and gluttony are super edgy and cool.

When you look to the title "God Eater" sounds awesome, but I don't think it would be that awesome in the anime. I might give it a shot watching.

It will probably be something like Chrome Shelled Regios since it has giant bugs or something like that. If it's ufotable then I'm sure that we will have quite accurate adaptation with no rushing and anime original ending crap.

Μοst based on game anime I've watched were really bad so I don't have high expectations for this one but I might give it a shot when it comes out.

I will wait for PV.

Not sure how this will turn out, it's like Attack on Titan meets Monster Hunter. I never beat the game thought it was pretty boring, extremely repetitive. The story wasn't anywhere near interesting enough to get me to keep playing.

I really liked the psp games and all but lets be serious, video game adaptions tend to bomb HARD even if ufotable are behind it, its gonna be hard making a good story out of some monster hunter game..

yeah, alog if people bringing up gungrave here...but thats only one of thr few rare exceptions within the pile of awful adaptions just look how bad blazblue did..

but I wonder if it'll be an adaption of the first game or second or have its own story like some of the manga.

Bandai Namco is totally playing the Aniplex game with this one. Go with the currently hot name brand recognition studio for your anime adaptation. Well I mean the game is like a million seller in Japan so it's not like it needs it there to boost it's profile but for the purposes of appealing to the West it's a pretty blatant move. Pretty much likely to be the only reason anybody would be remotely interested in it in English speaking communities.

It's not a million seller, it sold a little over 700,000 copies over it's lifetime.

Between it and the God Eater burst version it is. Even if you only count one that's still respectably popular for a Bandai Namco game focused largely on the Japanese market. It's not like they're Square Enix with Final Fantasy or anything.

Also the general tone of this thread is the least surprising thing ever with people being all conflicted about their raging hard on for ufoTABLE despite the realization that adaptations of video games with actual gameplay typically don't turn out all that great. I always love seeing MAL hold simultaneously contradictory opinions when trying to reconcile a person or company that has attained a certain level of idolatry with general trends and outcomes.

That makes sense, I was only counting one version. God Eater was overhyped to death especially at last years TGS along with the Vita version of Gundam Breaker, although I ended up liking Gundam Breaker over it.

if this game gets faihfully adapted this will be incredible, god eater has a really great world and interesting story, i wonder if they will include the main protagonist or make the anime without him, they could pull a yu from persona 4 and just give him a personality and voice which id prefer

Also i am one fully for ufotable not just being exclusive to type-moon stuff, i wanna see them do so many more things......aka i want a tales of anime done right but still i wanna see other shit

Not really. The Gungrave anime was a prequel to the game and the majority of its plot was not mentioned in the game at all besides the general background. As such, the Gungrave anime might as well had been an original anime. Most people who played the game and saw the anime say that the game's plot is horrible compare to the anime. The game's plot was covered by the last few episodes of the anime; yeah, the ENTIRE game's plot can be completed in like 3 episodes. Even then, the last few episodes are generally not as well received as the earlier ones.

I'm sure that is the reason most people would watch this anime, to watch that half-dressed no bra skank jiggle her boobs around. I'm not particularly expecting much since the game didn't really have an amazing story to being with and things tend to get even worse when games get adaptations. Oh well, I'm sure I can stare at Alisa for at least 2-3 hours before I lose interest. And it is by Ufotable, I guess; they tend to produce high quality anime.

The imporant question is how they're gonna handle the MC? Are they gonna use the canon MC Yuu what's his name?

For those with misconceptions of this series I'll explain the title: "God Eater".

The enemies are formed from a mysterious life form (oracle cells) that consumes and mimics things in it's surroundings, be it inorganic or not. The formed beasts are invulnerable to conventional weapons such as guns and bombs and posses extra-ordinary abilities. The people started calling them Aragami (dark gods) due to their godlike/divine looking disposition. Humans eventually figured out how to use oracle cells against them by making them "biased" to consuming the aragami. The weapons used are made on this principle as they devour and absorb power from these ''dark gods". Thus the name "God Eater"

It's not some edgy religious grim-dark series as the name would suggest to some, though the store is somewhat grim (human extinction and all that).
