Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki kun is like hilarious, who cares if they're references to yaoi. By the way Kashima is attracted to her Sempai who is a male. How is that gay? She's named the prince cause the females in the show LOVES the way she addresses them. She's gallant, it's not remotly gay in any sense of the word, she's flirty and she charms woman and man alike, Mikorin blushed at her when she replied something in episode 7-or 8. Then again, my attention really doesn't get distracted by it, yaoi or bara or gay stuff don't bother me at all, so I don't notice it that much. |

You mention "traps", and I genuinely want to know what the Japanese find so interesting in androgynous characters. I could try and list the amount of anime that has at least one male character with predominantly female characteristics, but I don't have all day. |

Death Note and Code Geass comes to mind, those few homoerotic scenes (implied ofc) didn't add absolutely anything to the actual story. |

I have noticed that as well, I'm just not really bothered by it. With most shows I've seen it in it's used for comedic purposes or in the case of another show it was really well done but yeah, I don't really understand it myself since the japanese aren't very receptive of homosexuality. |

It's a reference to when Jesus washes Judas's feet shortly before getting betrayed by Judas. I'm not saying this isn't really homoerotic, but it definitely did add something to the story and it was a great way of using foreshadowing. |

i'v been always avoiding straight anime because it's not my cup of tea, but i notice that this sort of stuff find their way into other genre as well, genre that, not supposed to have these undertones, yet they do. I just wonder why japan feel like pushing it in a lot of shows. To appeal for a bigger base? I find a lot of: 1) characters that dress according to heteronormative standards 2) support characters that are straight 3) if they aren't fully straight, they have some sort of interest in the opposite gender 4) if they are nothing of the above, it's probably a girl wearing male cloths and is attracting all of the girls in school, and still is 100% straight (example: kashima in gekkan shoujo). And while i have nothing against these stuff, it's something i don't want to watch, and this is why i pick other genre, but i end up seeing it in a lot of shows. It seems now after i'm being bothered by it, i can suddenly find it everywhere. I can no longer enjoy anime and i hate it. :< i want to stop being bothered but it but yeah, the damage is already done and i wonder if i should take a time off, maybe i should just watch revolutionary girl utena on repeat for the rest of my life? (in all seriousness though, i actively search for the gayest possible anime i can find ... and there is not much good stuff out there. if queer characters bother you it's probably because we aren't represented very well in media and almost always portrayed as stereotypes, most queer characters bother me too, being used as a joke or as evil characters or perverts) |

It's not really on the comedy side, other than episode 7 which was unintentionally funny. Yeah I know you're just insulting it but I think it's pretty offensive to use the word as an insult. But it's not a bad show. It just won't appeal to people who just watch anime for specific reasons. You have to have an open mind to see the positive points. It's a very awkward and weird show, but it has its good things. |
