| Politician Anthony Weiner had a scandal back in 2013 when explicit photos showing his private parts were leaked causing him to step down on Congress. News sites everywhere wrote articles filled with dick puns and major news broadcasters had blast making fun of this poor man. I'm not gonna lie, it's funny that such a coincidence would occur. A man named Weiner had a dick pic scandal, however, it went on for weeks and it seemed like everyone was kicking a man who's already down. Fast forward to yesterday, the Fappening happened. Nude photos of female celebrities spread like wildfire and milllions of males with sore dicks. Now, the intriguing part of all of this is the media's reaction. According to Daily Life, if you've seen the leaked photos, you have done the "...egregious act of psychic violence which constitutes a form of assault." The Guardian stated that, "If you click on Jennifer Lawrence's naked pictures, you're perpetuating her abuse". And even the FBI are tracking down people who are uploading the naked photos. I'm not saying it's okay for someone's private photos to be leaked to the public. I'm merely stating my observation. What's the reason for such a completely opposite reaction when a man get his photos leaked compared to a woman? When is the last time you've assaulted someone via psychic violence? |

| I think it's not a big deal because they're entertainers. If a female politician had nudes leaked, her career would be ruined, just like Anthony Weiner's was. When a celebrity's nudes are leaked, it doesn't really hurt their career - fuck, it may even HELP their career. |

| I didn't know about either of these incidents, but seeing as I don't watch the news, care about celebrity's one way or another, trend FB or any other social site apart from this and IGN, that's hardly surprising. As to why a female would incite this reaction as apposed to a male. Society treats woman different than men, and that's just one thing we have to deal with. I don't think it should mater, if you're taking pictures of yourself naked, and decided to upload them, be prepared to face the consequences, male or female. |

| Here's the difference: Weiner sent unsolicited pictures of his junk to a woman he wasn't involved with. He'd violated her rights by doing so and the best way to prove that this had happened was to show the physical evidence. In the case of the Fappening, photos of the celebrities were entrusted to somebody who had agreed to remain discreet while a third party stole them and threw them out for the public to see. In the first case, the photos were specifically of the violator while, in the second case, they were of the victims. |

| I wonder what kind of impact this will have though? Like... I wonder how paranoid celebs will be from now on and if they'll ever take nudes again lol. I'm guessing they won't for awhile at least, but there's always the young and stupid rising stars to look forward too. Anyway, I'm kind of disappointed at this haul. | I think the difference is that most people dislike the government greatly, whether legitimate or for superficial extreme party line bias, in the end for those involved its usually detrimental regardless. As for the newest issue, its probably being seen in a different light, not only due to being the result of a security breach due to hackers, but also there's probably just as many others who've also uploaded and shared "nude" or suggestive images and worry that their own photos may be circulating as well. |
