I've always asked for suggestions of slice of life frienship themed anime with slight yuri undertones. Turns out I'm pretty stupid. Because not only is that not hard to find, but it's way too common. I think friendship is an awesome theme in anime. But almost all the time, they're depicted as unrealistically close. Yea, it's adorable to watch, but I know friends don't really act that way, even females.

I'm not knocking or bashing the more "cute" and "over-romanticized" friendship anime. It's just that I've seen it far too much and wanna see something more real. Plus, it's more relatable to how groups of people really act, therefore I can identify.

Like Anohana for example. I loved that anime cause I coudl be like... "Man, I remember those days. We were so like that"... However, when I see this moe type stuff it's like, "I've never seen friends, male or female, that close"... It's cute and all, but it's not realistic

Um, Isshuukan Friends is not a realistic portrayal of friendship at all. It's exactly the overly cute forced innocence bullshit crap that OP explicitly said he specifically did not want.

Which is why I also recommended Ao Haru Ride.

Bakuman
Honey and Clover
Haikyuu ( it's a sports series,though )
Gin no Saji
+ 1 Isshuukan Friends and Ao Haru Ride
Kimi to Boku
Kimi ni Todoke
KimiKiss Pure Rouge

Hmm... I've seen some kimi no todoke, and I liked it a lot. I'm only a few episodes in. Kids on the slope is one of my absolute favorites. I've only heard of a few of the others

You could try Tari Tari.
They aren't friends at the beginning and slowly grow to like each other. Nothing too forced nor overly romantic, just a great music-themed friendship slice-of-life.

I'd agree with you on the friendship between Fujimiya and Hase, but the connection between Hase and Kiryuu ain't so bad.

Honey and Clover has some pretty well done friendships.

With this kind of theme, you're never going to find something you think is realistic unless you can relate it to your own life or culture.
I'm also filled with pure-hearted ulterior motives.

AnoHana.
Because of the circumstances that happen I feel like a lot of shows would unrealistically make it so their "friendship is stronger than ever" etc.
But, the thing I love about AnoHana is the characters feel very human. Their actions will leave you feeling frustrated because it's so realistic to how people really react to situations.

If you really want something that is really real, maybe you should try Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. I think it's pretty realistic. ;)

Also +1 to Kimi to Boku, I think it's quite realistic as well.
