What does a mature anime?

| A mature anime in my opinion have rape, gore, sex, violence, tragedy, sad back story, emotional and sad moments, betrayal, emotional OST and decent story Berserk and Claymore is very good example of mature anime. |

| A good mature anime is something that manages to send it's message in a way that is acceptable to it's target audience, and it's message manages to affect many people. Doesn't matter if it's dark or fluffy, if the message is sent in a way that is acceptable, and many people is affected(doesn't matter how) then it's mature. The message can be anything from events and lessons from personal life or current events, to things that happen in the past that may need to be brought up again, to displaying an emotion, to etc. Going by this, it doesn't matter if the anime is Seinen or Shonen, dark or fluffy, or intricate or simple. If the message is effective in getting a reaction from many people in it's target audience, the anime had done it's job. |

| Honestly to me, anything with adult themes. It doesn't have to be gruff, and rough to be mature. I hate the idea that people have of maturity. However maturity is subjective so it's really hard to say. |

| Most anime do not have mature plot/storyline. Violence certainly don't make you a mature anime. However,manga like Parasyte,Vinland Saga,Vagabond,SkyHigh Karma are the real seinen and have mature story line.Unfortunately,they won't get animated. |

Code geass, fate zero and monster are just a few examples of these guidelines. Me personally if the anime has tragedy genre its usually seen as a more "deep" anime in some perspectives. |
