How do you listen to your music on your phone?

Nonsense, Many EDM songs can benefit from tinkering around with the EQ, especially if you have good headphones plugged in tinkering around with the lower frequencies can do quite a bit . . . .

Anywhom, I generally use Poweramp on Android since it has a bit more in the way of options than whatever the default program is as well as recognizes a much larger range of audio files. I usually don't tinker with the EQ since it changes from song to song and is a pain in the ass for very little gain (although some songs do benefit greatly from it imo, although still a pain in the ass) . . . I sometimes will just use the oversimplified EQ settings it has (i.e. a nob for boosting bass / treble) since that is a lot faster way to pretty much the same effect.

Using an EQ just ruins it imo and makes it sound all muddy, since EDM songs are optimized and mastered to sound perfect across all audio equipment as is. Another EQ is unnecessary in my opinion

idk, it might just be the earphones and headphones I'm using or the shitty presets the iPhone has

Presets for EQ rarely if ever work out well . . . Since A) They probably aren't well thought out and B) Don't address individual songs, but try and address a genre, as if that makes any sort of sense . . .

Although also having good headphones/speakers/etc. is probably a necessity since if you boost a frequency that your speakers have trouble producing (i.e. most lower-mid range speakers when you do any kind of "bass boosting"), they are going to sound "muddy" . . . However this is mostly* due to the speakers just being unable to handle a strong bass (It might be possible for higher frequencies to sound muddy on lower end speakers if you boost it however I don't think I have ever encountered a problem with anything but bass sounding muddy and that is only with bad speakers (like my crappy car's speakers)). Anyways, I would say that it is much better to tinker around with the EQ itself as opposed to presets (I remember trying the presets on my ipod . . . They were just bad) However . . . In all honesty, it makes it sound a bit better in some areas, but since you can't (or I haven't been able to find a way, not that I have looked at all) have it so that the program remembers how you set the EQ for each individual song, it is way too much of a pain in the ass to do unless you are bored

I do the songs from the laptop on my phone, but I also have an iPod, which I prefer when listening to music.

Stock player with Android plus an Oontz for public listening.

I listen to spoken audio a lot, too, primarily the BBC World Service stream. I found that the phone's speaker (Galaxy S3) was better for that than the Oontz. I tried a couple of EQ apps for spoken material but didn't see much difference.

I sync mine, I know u can download the songs for offline uses on some applications but that's too much hassle and it usually doesn't even support the songs I want. Earphone I use is the Jaybird Bluebuds X Bluetooth Earphones.

I use VLC for android.

Seems to be one of the only players that can properly seek Matroska files, which is the container that I keep all of my music in.

It's also free and open source, so if I really want a feature I can write it.

Well, I had a Nokia Navigator (4 year old), but it's slide broke (and I never called anyone anyway), so I started using it exclusively for music..... then the screen broke. I loved that damn phone, always had my back.

My current phone (a Nokia E6, second-hand) can't support shit, so I can't play music on it since I can't use it for music while traveling. But in either case, I use the default player. Easy to use and the sounds are good enough.
