The version being brought over is the “full voice edition” and a release date has yet to be announced. The game will be released on Steam.

Too be honest I'm not familiar with their work. Ipi just heard a Clannad VN was being localized and I just go, "SOLD!". XD

Have they published others before?

They announced all of these games in less than a year. It seems like they just popped up out of nowhere, but now they've somehow convinced Key to release their games on Steam.

Pretty much this, I got my playtime out of this already. Little Busters and Rewrite are better VN's from Key anyway.

No! Dunt break ma hart no more!

Though srsly, you play it once and don't come back. That's the best feeling. Though I would buy Rewrite if it ever came to steam since it's emotional on an another level.
Missing the times of Rewrite, good times.

Am I right to assume the voices will be in English? Because that is what it sounds like, but my brain is saying that would never happen....right?

English voices? Not a chance. Fortunately.

I hope they will provide an actual English translation. That... thing that's currently available is awful.

You think it'd be that bad? The voices in the anime weren't too bad, at least in my eyes anyway. Oh well. A man can dream, right?

Oh well, it's a start. Nothing wrong with Clannad but would of liked something that hasn't gotten a fan translation.

It won't happen. The game will be Japanese Dub with English Subtitles.

the dub was pretty fucking bad, think only tomoya's voice sounded ok and even then he had alot of iffy line readings.

Why? A bigger market = more money = more quality choices.

There reason why you see the same VN recommendations is because of all the budget-less studios produce ugly VNs save for the few diamonds in the rough

Well, they weren't bad in my eyes either. They made my ears bleed after 5 seconds though. No seriously, I avoid English dubs by default, but this one was exceptionally awful.

Quality aside, believe me, you DON'T want any long VNs to get English dub. Unless you feel like paying 200-300$ for a copy, because that's how much it would have to cost to cover all those new VAs (considering very low sales of VNs on the West).

I can't seem to understand why anyone would hate Luci Christian unless they were a dub hater though :S I've only ever seen the dub haters and sub-only watchers hate on her. Now if it were the other VA's, I think I could understand. I mean I've seen Greg Ayres, Shelley Calene-Black and David Matranga get shit on multiples times. Hell, I especially wasn't fond of David myself.

Edit - Never mind, I see you're a dub hater/sub-only watcher. Forget I said anything.

In all seriousness, has there ever in history been a Japanese visual novel that got localized in English with an actual dub? Like not an English original? I don't know if I've ever heard of such a thing.

Yeah, that was why I was doubtful. I mean I heard Katawa Shoujo was getting something like that, but that doesn't count since it is fan made, and by 4chan no less if I am not mistaken.

Not official, but I saw a fandub trailer on Youtube a while back that looked all professional-like. Can't seem to find it again now >.<

@Dark_Chaos
When did I say that I hate that Luci Christian in particular? I don't even know who she is. Did she voice ALL characters in Clannad? Because otherwise, even if one character had decent VA, I don't see how it would make the whole dubbing good.
(Norio Wakamoto is an exception here, he automatically makes everything awesome :P)

It doesn't matter any more, since you avoid dubs. I no longer care to explain.

Snatcher dubbed was pretty good. Could of been because of game's setting that I felt English was more fitting. However I don't consider Snatcher to be a true visual novel.

I'm pretty sure DanganRonpa got an english dub for its game on PSVita, so there's that.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm quite looking forward to this development. It's all falling into place with my evil, dastardly plan to get all of my friends addicted to Visual Novels through Steam in this discreet manner. Clannad will be there and the thing would become too difficult to ignore after one has been made aware of it, so curiosity shall take over~ ;D

Seriously though, glory to the Sekai Project for bringing a great VN (and VNs in general) on the pathway to greater levels of popularity (note that the medium in question could never possibly become mainstream). Always a welcome modification if you ask me. ^^

The Clannad visual novel was quite enjoyable, certainly more so than the anime.
Glad to see that it'll be available to more people now.

And to those who think there might be an English dub:
"Additionally, we will not be recording an English dub."
