Are the battles smart?

I finished episode 2 and the battle was boring. It did not have any strategic oomph to it. Will future battles be similar or can I expect to see some more strategic moves placed into the battles. I want to see something similar to the battles in Aldnoah Zero if possible.

No, it doesn't have smart battles. It's a video game adaptation, don't expect Death Note/Code Geass level of strategies here.

Definitely. Quite contrary actually. If you are looking for "smart battles" you are just going to be frustrated how stupid the script makes most of the people look. Especially that one supposedly genius imperial commander.
