| just as the title says. is it like 15s per page? or 20min per volume? Does MAL differentiate between for example a gintama chapter and a bleach chapter which would be a lot of text vs barely any? probably not right? so any thoughts/ideas? or is there a concrete answer? |

| According to Luna_'s blog. Anime stats are determined by the length of the anime. But how to determine manga stats? Some people read faster than others, manga volumes have different number of chapters, and chapters have different number of pages. The answer is easy: there's no complicated calculation when it comes to manga stats. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are two factors for the calculation: 1 chapter = 0.00556 days (8 minutes) 1 volume = 0.05 days (1.2 hours) For the whole list through all categories (reading, completed, etc.) two scores are calculated: chapter score = number of all chapters * chapter factor volume score = number of all volumes * volume factor The higher score is taken for the "time (days)" stats. Some facts: Re-read values are included in the calculation (although these stats aren't displayed on your list, so don't only take the numbers shown there, you have to include the re-read values also). Length of a chapter/volume (i.e., number of pages) is not taken into account. There's also no difference between manga and novels. The stats don't reflect the real time you spent on reading, it's just an approximation. |
