I have to say hughes death. but to be more presice it was the part where his daughter was saying "Why are the burying daddy?" that made me cry like a baby T_T.

My thoughts exactly :(

Hughes death was the most tragic and saddest, granted Nina's was worth a tear-shed as well. But Hughes' was just more empowering and emotional :(

well the most upsetting thing in a anime ive seen was in saikano when akemi died while she was crying hugging shuji saying she didnt want to die then coughed up blood that just there made want to never watch a show like that again because it gets to upsetting wot makes it worse is that her boyfriend who loves her but doesnt love him back gets killed while trying to retreat from the warzone dont think much can compare to that

@skeithxth:

You should use spoiler tags - you pretty much spoiled Saikano for anyone who wanted to watch it... O_e

If it isn't broken dont fix it.

Both are fine, no need for additions that cater only to radical fans.

Fullmetal Alchemist the original was filled with so many sad moments! I would have to rewatch Hughes and Nina's death scenes but I found the saddest scene to be when Sloth aka Ed and Al's mom died at the beginning of episode 48 with the piano melody playing. It was sooooo sad! The music, the silence, truly bidding farewell to the last remnants of their mother this time.

I know there were far more heart-wrenching moments in the show, but the part that really made me cry and made me want to literally quit watching the show was in episode 35 - reunion of fools when Lydia begged Lust not to take her fiance from her... That really broke my heart...

Wow, totally forgot about that! Fullmetal just tugged at your heart strings every episode! The way Lust killed Lydia's fiance Lujon was really sad too, the way he looked so shocked and betrayed. Of course Lust was doing it to avoid her feelings and forget about her human life.
