-- Spoiler ----

Well in my opinion the most sad moment in an anime ever was when hughes died, he was such cool and funny and lovable character. In that funeral... aww that was sad, i even get wet eyes by thinking about it still =\

Wanted to make a post: "most sad anime moment" but i figured that would be one insane spoiler post so i dropped that idea =P

Nina's Death, nearly had me in tears, and anime rarely even brings me near to that

For me Hughes as well. I was shocked really. Didn't think I would see an important and well liked character get offed like that. Normally doesn't happen in anime. Nina's death was sad but I didn't really get that attached to her. It's just always sad to see little innocent kids getting killed off.

i thought nina's death was sadder, simply cuz of the circumstances. Hughes' was sad as well, but he was doing his job. It was an honorable death :)

Can't really see why that makes it less sad =P

Nina was young and innocent, and had far less control over the circumstances surrounding her death. Hughes' was doing his job which, he should have known could have put him in danger.

Its like, whats sadder? A soldier who dies fighting a war? or an innocent child who was just caught in the cross fire? Of course both are a tragedy....but...

Well, thats just the way I see it

Hughes is a much more developed character in FMA then Nina is, so of course most people would find it sadder when a main character dies rather then a supporting one, but I just think the circumstances with Nina were more upseting

The thing with that is that you knew what would happen to everyone. So it didn't feel that sad. I mean it did but something like Hughe's death was more upsetting cause you probably didn't expect it. You knew in the Fafner OVA that none of them had any hope from day one.

Which is exactly why, I think, so many of us "mourned" his death. You REALLY got to know Hughes' little quirks that made him such a great character. And being such a devoted dad and husband, too, added to the sadness.

Yes, Nina's death was a tragedy, and I cried. But I felt more anger at her father than sadness.

But Hughes... well, he has just endeared himself to so many of us, that it was almost like losing a close friend. (God I'm being sappy)

Hughes's death was sadder, espeicially when you have his daughter asking "Mommy why are they buring daddy?" I thought that was sad.

I can't believe you guys were sad with some of the deaths in FMA. I would be sad if there weren't any.

stoneblade said:

completely agree. that is what I call sad. It ALMOST made me shed a tear. To build it up like that even though I knew what was going to happen, props to whatever studio did it

note: i have not shed a tear in any anime that I have recalled while I have with 1 LA drama and 2 mangas

the saddest moment for me would be the last episode in FUMOFFU!

That guy is performing my job but noone likes it (makes me sawwwd)

The outcome is the greatest tho.

Hughes death. I think I spent 30 minutes going "NOOOOOOO!!!" and then another 4 episodes deluding myself that "he's not really dead, he's just hiding" until the part when Winry came to visit his house to find him dead, that's when I started crying and couldn't stop.

Nina's death got me too, but at that time I was thinking that it's better that she's dead instead of being a Chimera. For Hughes it was like he had a family to return to, and he'd figured it out but got killed. Every time someone else was "misled" I kept thinking "if only Hughes were here, he would have figured it out, DAMN them for killing him!".

All in all it was a great way to take out a great character, made the overall plot even better.

I'd say it's a toss up between the death of Hughes and Nina. Hughes was my fav character and i was so depressed when he died. But even tho Nina was only there for a little while, she was so innocent and it was terrible to see her die, it had a great impact, i thought.

I didn't feel much when Al got his body back at the sacrifice of Ed. I had the movie all lined up to watch immediately after the series, which doesn't leave time to reflect for as long as I'm sure most people would have.

I found the end of the movie to be the most sad part for me. It was a confusing emotion. As happy as I was, I was sad about it. Definitely a good ending.

Nina's death. I was more shocked and suprised than upset at Hughes' death. Not only that, but little girls dying always get me, them being so innocent and all.

I would have to says Hughes death was the saddest part for me. The worst part was when his daughter was asking about daddy. The second saddest part would be the end to the anime. I wanted everything to go back to normal and everyone to be together. I hated that ed was seperated from everyone. I watched the movie hoping this would change. and he came back just to leave again.( atleast al was with him this time) I did not like the ending to the anime or the movie.

Hughes, and when lust's past starts to haunt her, and she kills it... (the look a like guy, I have a bad memory and I'm bad at explaining things... but you get the idea? Well it wasn't that important anyways...)
They were about on par, and both surpassed the ending xD
