Just... outstanding...

This was one of the best, can't believe the titans could be this clever, the thing is, 1 pilot of AEUG rivals 3 Titan pilots.

I actually felt sorry for that bastard Jerid =/

Jerid is an idiot for believing that the Titans methods are the best for everyone. I don't really understand why is he even still alive? He isn't really a match for them~

He HAS shown considerable newtype abilities.
Seems odd that someone from Earth and the Titans would show that...but I guess its possible he is one.

Jerid kills Kamille's mom. Kamille kills Jerid's two love interests and one dude that nobody gives a crap. Jerid's vengeance speeches are only going to get longer and longer.

I always thought that Jerid was the best character besides Amuro and Char. Dude has some considerable plot armor though. I thought for sure he'd bite the dust in this episode.

Man, Zeta Gundam has gotten pretty ridiculous as of late, and by ridiculous, I mean "space opera"-y.

Still, this episode focused on one of my favourite characters in this series: Jerid. This episode makes me curious as to what will happen with him.

Best episode yet - I feel so sympathetic for Jerid, but the moment anyone kisses someone or something, they're doomed to death within an episode. D:

For some reason I can never find any sympathy for Jerid, he's just too pathetic and always getting his ass kicked. He just doesn't seem to be much of a threat and his own personal agenda is silly, probably one of the worst gundam rivalries if you can even call Kamille vs Jerid a rivalry, its so one-sided.

Couldn't say it better myself. How many pointless women does this show need to kill before Jerid does whatever the show wants him to achieve and stops being a nuisance?

And seriously, these battles are such a bore. I guess it doesn't help when 99% of the characters suck harder.

Easily the best episode in Zeta, and by a significant margin. The battle plan was strong, and the feeling of inevitable doom (for important members of one side or the other) was at a peak. Really feel for Jerid, constantly being involved in tragedies, whether as the giver or the receiver.

While it was obvious that Mouar's time was limited, it still didn't take away from her brave move, nor mitigate the impact of her perpetual loyalty to Jerid.

Very touching overall, anyone that didn't feel their emotions roused here are not Gundam fans.

Im starting to feel sorry for Jerid, I was so sympathetic that I wanted the Argama to take a L for once. I like that ppl are realizing that Fa doesnt have pilot material, the crew shouldnt be dealing with her constant mistakes, they should just get another pilot and make her the babysitter.

Wow what a tragic episode T__T

Definitely one of the best episodes ever!! Finally Titans having a actual amazing strategy that almost destroyed AEUG.

As always Char appears at the beginning, then vanishes once more :(

Fa acting on her own once again, though at least she was able to save the children.

The plan was definitely a success, I'm amaze Jerid was able to keep his cool throughout the match until Mouar's death :(

I feel bad for Jerid. Back then i hated him and deserve all the sorrow that happens to him. Then when his old comrades dies, two lovers already lost(Milla Rira, Moaur) plus the frustration of not being able to surpass Kamille since their first battle. I feel sorry for him.

Still I'm amaze at his combat skills when Moaur died. He disarmed Reccoas' Gundam, Zeta Gundam's armor, and Gundam Mk II's armor all by himself.

When the death music played, i thought Jerid was done for. There will be a next time to avenge the death of his past comrades and his lovers.

Seems Kamille is beginning to doubt himself, much like what happened to Amuro and Lalah.

And i knew someone would complain about using women's death as a way to redeem the male pilots. But do know that a lot of male also were killed like Roberto(Char's teammates), Blex and others.

It's just that this series has a lot of female piliots and characters. Of course there will be more deaths of them.

I'm actually surprise they're making a lot strong female leads here. Even if they die in the process, at least they died trying instead of people treating them not being able to fight.

Love this series!! I can't wait to see more!!!!!

Can't wait for the next episode!!

Considering Jerid told Kamille that killing his mom was only following orders I'd like to think this has all been wonderfully cruel karma on the bastard.

Also, yeah a lot of males and females have died I dunno what the complaints are about. Jamaican specifically was a coward and Blex pretty much died like a chump, none of the women got those kind of fates (yet?). Plus, I'd say so far Four has been the most formidable opponent they've encountered so far.

That was an amazing episode, easily one of the best so far. But like some others I'm really starting to get tired of all these female pilots living, fighting and dying either all for the sake of their male love-interests or simply to trigger their devolpment. That's where the complaints come from, hybreezy-kun, not from the types of death nor their power level nor how much of a coward any of these women were (because they certainly weren't).

Oh and Jerid, you killed Kamille's parents so spare us with the revenge speech. You only have the right to shut the fuck up and appreciate karma biting you right in the ass.

It's interesting that there seems an even split here for hose who don't like Jerid at all and those who really enjoy him as a character. I fall in the latter camp, I like seeing a villain get so much development through the series. That's a rare thing and we get to see his morals crumble a bit and those around him die. Really felt bad for Moaur and I thought Jerid was toast too, but no he's still swinging. Watch your back Kamille!

Moaur is dead! The third time was the right one! How could she survived this long after her kiss of death? I felt slightly bad for her, but nothing more. Jerid is just an revenge-obsessed angry boy with no moral after all. Without the last episode, it would have been certainly more efficient.
For once, the organized military corp has a viable strategy, that was a good move.
Fa is gonna be a full-time baby-sitter, great "promotion"... I sensed it but it is disappointing.
There is a boom of NT awareness "flashes", isn't this sometimes a trouble in the middle of a battle?

And what is this idea of asking Zeon remnants to help ? O_o
(slowly starting to think Zeon will make a move right at the end of the series and really be present only in the next one -_-)

4/5

For the first time in forever Zeta Gundam's war feels like a bad situation to be in.

I LOLed at Bright's honestly puzzled face when Emma told him that he couldn't fix Fa's problem by simply beating her up. It was like he was asking himself "but if slapping doesn't solve a problem, IS SOLVING IT EVEN POSSIBLE?".

Zeon's is making a move! Will we have an actual plot from now on?

Well built in terms of strategy, the battle. Tomino has reappeared, poor Jerid! The beauty of directing and script, is that of having built lately, more of the episodes with a narration Fa centric, and disguised them well, inside of them.

I'm impressed how good the Titan's plan was this episode compared to how stupid their plan the previous episode was. Jerid lives again, but again the price is higher than what he would wish. I'm impressed with how much he has developed over the course of this series, and I'm curious to see where he goes from now that Moaur is no longer there to balance him.

I see the improvement of this show (some key characters have grown [character growth]) but this tiny development (Fa disobeying orders y leaving her mobile suit in the middle of combat & trying to get out of the ship [The Argama was the safest place]) make me take those development into consideration when scoring this show... but I have to give credit to the characters they recognize how foolish it was and discharged Fa.

On a side note:
Two women have died believing in Jerid and frankly I don’t see what they saw in him (so far, the show have shown a whinny guy who is at the level of a grunt instead of a leader) if he survives and becomes the person that he wants to be I hope the anime show me his change, because so far like I said he is still the same person since the begging of this series…

Find it odd that people hate Jerid simply because of his involvement in Kamille's mom's death, considering the position he was in and the way that scene was handled (and we can't forget Kamille's own involvement in it because of his recklessness, and up to that point, stupidity.) There's defending main characters and then there's just blindly worshiping them, which is something I don't think the writing wants us to do.

Somehow or another Mouar ended up being my favorite female character in this series, and I found this episode to be powerful and emotional.

Finally an episode that didn't feel completely pointless and things were at stake.

This show has been a huge disappointment so far. The original series, while cheesier, was surely more engaging, the plot wasn't a simplistic good vs evil tale and the action-packed story structure and teenage angst made way more sense back then. Hopefully Zeta will become better from now on.

Ah, so the purpose of adding more children to the show was to create a non-pilot activity for Fa.

Jerid lost another woman he liked. Oh well. I almost shed a tear, even. But Jerid is still worthless, I was actually expecting him to go full kamikaze and die in a spectacular and somewhat tragic way to join Mouar.

What is it about Jerid that leads to multiple women falling or even sacrificing themselves for him? Dude takes constant L's and isn't likable in the slightest. Had to laugh a little when Kamille killed ANOTHER of his love interests, it's bordering comedy at this point.

Maybe I'd care more about the stakes if A) I cared about Jerid at all rather than thinking he's an absolute joke and B) I didn't find the kids so incredibly annoying and pointless that I wish they would die. As it is, while this was an improvement over basically every other episode we've had since Four's death, it was still not great.

And I know this was made in the 80s, but man am I sick and tired of the constant fridging that's going on in this series. These women aren't characters, they're just plot devices to enhance the development of the male characters (well, more like "development" given that Jerid is still as useless as always).

A real shame about Jerid. I guess she just wanted to defend him, but it would have been nice if they had both survived. She could have been the key to Jerid becoming better, in every way.

Even with everything, Jerid was not able to do anything significant. On the other hand, he appears to be a good pilot. I guess that's the real difference between who is a Newtype and who is not. Will those last visions of his lead him down the path of the Newtypes?

....What? The AEUG wants to ally with Zabiist fascist Zeon remnants? Damn, Casval. I guess once a dirty Zeon, always a dirty Zeon.

And Mineva is their figurehead? I guess it makes sense, but its a shame that the girl was probably raised and groomed with fascist propaganda all her life.

@SlickD My dude, Jerid just planned to kill millions of innocent people, and then he gets all sobby and calls Kamille a murderer for killing two active combatants in a war? Me not feeling anything for him does not make me not a Gundam fan. You people feeling anything for him after he was gung-ho about the colony-gas plan just last episode is much weirder, imo.

If you want me to feel sorry for a character, dont have him actively take part in a plan to kill millions of civillians, including children. Once that happens, that character is irredeemable and unworthy of sympathy forever.

@syncrogazer Its less Kamilles mom and more his willingness to gas millions of innocent people to death that makes Jerid utterly unsympathetic. Oh, Kamille killed your girlfriend, who was an active combatant in a war? Well if the colony gassing had succeeded youd have killed hundreds of thousands of couples, teens in love, pining crushes, oh, and of course children. But no, go on about how Kamille is a murderer and killed 3 people you somewhat knew for a week, you delusional psychopathic hypocrite.

This episode would be effective it had come before the colony-gas-plan one. Buts its not only after, but actually the very next episode.

Mouar was way better, as a character, than Jerid - and one of the few "voices of reason" among the Titans. But - of course - she had to die, so that Jerid would "develop" more as a character - if that is possible. First Lila (another interesting female character), then Mouar. And has Jerid actually "developed"? I kind of liked him at first, but he seems pathetic now. Mouar's death was too predictable, can't say I liked it. She deserved more than being a stepping stone for this idiot.

I also wish this series could - for once - leave the "one battle per episode" formula and focus more on some of the characters, beyond the scope of the battlefield. That was one of the biggest flaws of the '79 series, in my opinion: action that overshadowed the characters. I almost thought that Zeta had fixed this, but I may be wrong. Do we always need a battle, each and every episode?

Anyway. Despite these gripes, I'm still enjoying this and we have a long way to go till the end. I just hope we see more of Char and Amuro soon.
