It definitely looks intresting and the animation is breathtaking. But damn! $580,000! That's too much.

I'll see what I can do. Most probably I'll give around 30$ but if I can save more within a week then I'll probably give 50$ which is what I'm aiming for. The PV was stunning.

If they plan on reaching $580k first they need to drop the price for the Blu-Ray, $100 is way too much for just one 24 minutes episode, something in the $50-60 margin would be enough. Quite a lot of backers are complaining about that in the comments.

But I liked the idea, I hope they succeed.

I dunno...I mean if the creators of Guilty Crown had a kick starter, and released clips of their say first or second episode I would have actually donated, but now I've grown rather skeptic.
Saying they can make it longer than it can be if more than enough money is obtained does the opposite of winning me over. That essentially opens possibilities of filler material, dragged on story or shallow subplots.

I welcome this with open arms, but the premise though... Realistically, the UN wouldn't [be able to] do anything like creating a Task Force 141 for Japan. The world would only give them intelligence support while the heavy lifting would have to be done by the Japanese themselves. The US suffered a terrorist attack and they had to do pretty much everything themselves (military, FBI, CIA, with help from foreign intelligence) to find and kill OBL. In an alternate universe where there's a strong UN like Muv-Luv, sure, this can happen, but I'll just assume it's based on our world (since Tokyo 2020 Olympics).

In the end, I'll wait for more info.

Masahiro Ando is THE MAN. Everything he's been apart of has been good.

But it's only supposed to be a 24 minute OVA? Or is it actually going to be a full length series?

If it's simply going to be 24 minutes long I have no intention on contributing.

If you read the kickstarter page or watched the video, you would know it's a series, the 500k us dollars for the first episode.

looks nice, interesting synopsis and good animation. Maybe a bit too much explosions and gunshots for my taste though.

they're talking about 1.74 million dollars for 2 prequels (3 episodes total) and 5.1 million dollars for a feature film, which in my opinion is almost impossible to gather with kickstarter. I think the chances of it turning into a full series is low.

A lot of people seem to be misinterpreting the aimed length of this project. Despite the original creator saying that he thought of the story for a 26 episode series, this project only intends to create a 24 minute episode. Then there are a couple stretch goals - if it hits 1.16 million they make another 24 minute episode; 1.74 million for a third 24 minute episode (it is mentioned that both of these would be prequels); 5.1 million for a full feature length film of 90-120 minutes.

Unless I'm missing something, a full series isn't planned, since they would need much more money than that.

Doesn't really seem anything special, but I'd like to see more anime kickstarters. Helping fund a specific project sounds nicer than scattering money across the industry.

OK, on a second pass, this sounds totally like Red Dead Redemption.

I thought it was going to be Zero Dark Thirty: The Anime.

The way that blood BURSTS from everybody's neck when they get kicked with a foot seems a bit stupid and tryhard.

Plot sounds ok, but for only one 24 min episode? Half a million dollars? Yea right.

The way Kickstarter works is that you won't get charged until the Kickstarter (1) passes its backing goal and (2) successfully reaches the end of the backing period.

Color me interested. The art and animation looks good, and they have people from FullMetal Alchemist and Ghost in the shell.

This looks pretty interesting. They have a lot of big names working on this, and I like the synopsis.

The price seems fair, but a bit ambitious for a crowdfunding attempt. I don't know. A single 24 minute episode could go really wrong, and I'm not exactly expecting them to hit the movie stretch goal (which would replace the normal episodes if they reached it). Still, I've always been for creators retaining their creative rights. Hmm.

As wrenchbread noted, you aren't charged unless the kickstarter is successfully funded, so I suppose I'll throw in my support. The BD is too much for me, but the digital tiers are nice.

Hmm, something sounds really off and bad about the synopsis. Can't really tell what but mostly the premise is a bit exaggerated. Nice animation but I won't be backing it.

I honestly do not see this working out for them. The kickstarter for LWA worked out because it was a well liked and has an established fanbase. They should have started small before trying this sort of thing out seeing as to how niche the anime market is compared to stuff like video games and such and kickstarter.com is also a western oriented site which could pose some obvious problems.

I do hope that it actually succeeds though. Ain't got no credit card for this kind of thing.

If you're familiar with how kickstarter works, you would know that the project will get the most funding on its first few days and slow down over the course of the month and pick back up when it's about to end. It's like an x squared graph of something similar.

While it's too early to make any valid predictions this is definitely true. As a reference, Little Witch Academia reached its goal of 150 thousand dollars in 6 hours but needed another 20-something days to reach the stretch goal of 500k.

I pledged yesterday and I'm pleased to see that it's making solid progress. I like the creative team behind this and I believe that if it's successful, it could slowly open up the doors for other creators to try do their own project. You wouldn't believe how little the writers/directors in the anime industry make in Japan due to the way different companies share the production costs and risks.

Man the cast is pretty all star in this, but I thought they wrote enough material for 26 ep series. Now it's only 24 min OVA. Should be a 4 part OVA at the minimum (so i guess movie length would be cool).

I will support this just because I do like sci-fi shows and they seem to get the least treatment on any medium besides books.

Hopefully if proven successful they can bargain with someone to pick it up to actually use that 26 ep script.
