I never get this kind of contest. Yeah lets fight to see who is better but lets do it with you piloting the new awesome machine while i pilot the rust-bucket. That seems fair.
Anyway she said that he predicted some movements so i guess we have another newtype.

Yeah, you're right! They should be both with the same Mobile Suit.

I liked this episode. At first, I thought Kou would really be the pilot of the Gundam because of the fight, but I'm glad they made things more "real", and give both pilots some penalty.

I'm not liking this Gundam series at all. The first problem is that Monsha is annoying as fuck.
I am going to assume that he's going to die later on, in this case that will actually be a good thing.

Well it's not exactly "stealing", but still yeah. They didn't do good job checking whoever get close to Unit 1. ISN'T IT A FUCKING PROTOTYPE!?

Also we don't know if Kou is Newtype, yet.

Kou looked hilariously dumbfounded when put to that jail, made me chuckle a bit

I also realised just by ear, that Kou is voiced by the guy who did Reinhard von Lohengramm for LoGH. Pretty awesome stuff, heh

One thing I noticed is that Nina is pretty dumb. One, she repeated the same mistake of "if I yell at them, they'll listen and go away" where, again, someone could of steal Unit 1 without much trouble.

Two, she let the SPY COME ONTO THE SHIP. Did NO ONE think as to how Unit 2 was stolen so easily? Did they forget that the guy who stole it had a Feddie suit and thus maybe there was a spy? That, maybe, one of her teammates, specifically guy who wanted to come along for no reason, could of been the spy? Nope, let him come. No problems there.

They have to be smarter than this later on.

Hahah Gundams are sooo easy to steal it's not even funny anymore. Paintball with them was pretty awesome. I'm loving the fights in this series.

Nice poster Allan had in his room so he was a football player? Perhaps collage or pro?

Monsha acted like a sore loser he kicked the wall of his cell after their paintball fight.

I'm watching the dub from my DVDs and some of the dialogue is hilarious.

Great episode!

At least Kou had the guts to face a veteran and won. I kinda lol'd before the battle. The commander had a nude lady and pasted Nina's picture on it.

She kinda look like that model tbh XD

Good stuff! Can't wait for the real battles!

Why in the world would that dude challenge Kou to a fight when Kou is in the gundam and Monsha is in some run of the mill mass production feddie suit? To be fair Monsha still moved pretty well, not suprising if he's a veteran soldier dude probably fought in the one year war.

So it seems like Kou feels such a strong sense of responsibility for not being able to recover the other gundam that he feels like he needs to be the one who pilots the gundam over veteran soldiers. Nina did say something about Kou getting really good usage out of the suit.

So far this is an okay ish show. The mecha design, ship design, and combat is pretty awesome though.

Average episode, nothing noteworthy except this new annoying character (Monsha would go pretty well with Nina, as dumb and nerving as her).
Same mistakes repeated again: let's not watch the Gundam, let's welcome the spy.
The paint duel was just here for popcorn effect... good but pointless. By the way, how do you judge someone's skills when he's using the last prototype of the line and you are piloting the mass-produced version of the earliest prototype of the same line??

Interesting to see how the hero feels the obligation to directly participate in order to deal with the responsibility he thinks he has. Good change. I liked the fact he and the other guy were both confined. (btw, Gundam pilot confined: checked).

3/5

I am wondering if any meaningful event will have the time to happen in this series with only ten episodes left. Sure hoping 0083 is not all shiny and empty at the same time. It would be a shame.

As a hobby, before it returns the clash between the Federation and Zeon, it seems more than satisfactory. The construction of structures within the offended party, it is useful and necessary, makes compelling the plot. Drawings and animations, magnificent. Excellent also the soundtrack along with the opening and ending.

Pretty dumb "contest" to be honest. Only thing dumber than this was probably Nina.

I never understood why Kou is blaming himself for Allen’s death - why do anime characters blame themelves for something bad happening?

I appreciate the depiction of destructed base and injured soldiers at the beginning.

"We heard someone got you, so we checked the morgue in the basement" - lmao Monsha is a treasure

Posters of naked girls in Allen's room. Of course, that's a Gundam OVA, I know. Same with the insides of Monsha's MS.
Actually I teared up a bit together with Kou. Poor Allen!

I wonder how did the captain of Albion know that they needed to go to Africa. That's the same place Gato is heading to. And oh well, the spy was never found.

Anyway, the episode was pretty enjoyable so far, establishing the relationships between the crew is also important; though I wonder whether the other 2 veteran pilots will have some screen time too. And also Nina shouldn't have the role of a decent girl who just happens to protect the protagonist from his unwise comrades all the time, I think. Though it's pretty obvious that they'll get into a relationship soon. On the other hand, I might understand why she would feel pity for Kou; she witnessed the battle herself, and for the first time in her life. Anyway, we'll see. My hopes for a decent Gundam romance will probably be shattered but I still believe.

As for the contest, I don't think it's really relevant that Monsha had an inferior model; he was supposed to be a more experienced pilot, and the model doesn't matter that much in a paintball contest. If you hit it, you hit it. Actually, the trope with veteran crew members rejecting the rookie at first and suspecting him of being incompetent is not new, of course.

I somewhat share the scepticism that the show might not have enough episodes to flash everything out. I'll stay mildly optimistic.

Monsha is annoying, I don't like this new character. I'm glad Kou put him in this place.

Pretty good episode, even if the paintball seemed sort of weird (though I could also see it being a thing for training). I'm thinking the big conflict will show that Gato is actually quite honorable and knows he will be defeated by Kou in the end.
