| yay the lizard survived~ but in all seriousness, it probably would've been really nice if eren hadn't stopped jean from getting the lizard. i guess eren's interactions with marco at the end of the episode could've explained some of why eren was so passionate about his death in the anime series? i vaguely remember people being upset by eren's heightened sense of camaraderie towards marco when he inspired everyone to join the scouting league. this was definitely a really enjoyable episode though. it was nice watching more armin plots. |

| The first OVA was great, the second was pretty funny but this third one was horrible. It felt like one of the old Naruto part 1 filler episodes. |

| I actually think I might have liked this better than the first one. It was a lot more subdued than the main series, but it was nice getting a glimpse of some of the side characters and seeing a bit of the training. I also always like some reminders dropped here and there reminding us that the Titans aren't the only threat and that the humans aren't all united. | I don't really like the thick black outlines but the eyes are beautiful. Lmao at Armin writing everything down Jean and Eren = kids Wow, lots of action. Easily the best of the three. I don't get why the OVA are listed as sequels on MAL tho .. Anyways first OVA was good, 2nd so-so and the 3rd very good - 7/10. |

| So, the OVA. I'd like separate entries for the three, because: 1) Ilse's Diary gets a 9; 2) Sasha's cooking gets a 5; 3) Didn't see anything that I don't know yet gets also gets a 5. Better animation than the second OVA, worse than the first, good usage of the anime footage, Jean and Eren can work together just fine, but detracting points for the presentation of Marco and Armin, and the fuck where was Ymir. The average is 6.3 and I have to lower the score, if I am to do it right, but don't want - won't allow Ilse to take it because of the quality of the other two. So, any ideas who I ask to put the OVA as different entries? |

There wasn't nearly enough manga material to adapt, and it's a monthly series. Most of the manga chapters are action sequences, which means that it's a chapter or two per episode. They needed time to let the manga get ahead again before they could start on a second series. I enjoyed the OVAs and they did a good job keeping me hungry for the second season. Can't wait to see |

| I was so happy to see this part of the story before the serious events that comes after. IT makes you realize how much these trainees changed. Also, that last scene with Marco killed me inside u_u Bit disappointed to not have Ymir there. She wouldn't have left Krista alone >_> |
| No titan action!!! What a let down I was expecting they're going to be mugged then attacked by titans in the forest but oh well still a good episode. I got the feels when I saw the other members of the squad that were killed when the titans siege the wall including Marco. These OVAs just made me more exited for the second season and the movies. Hurry up already cause my friends are spoilers and won't stop telling me about the events in the manga. T-T Spoilers!!! |

| Ah this one was enjoyable. However... I hate complaining, but... the writing's a bit sloppy. I shouldn't be surprised, this is not written by Isayama, no? Eren seemed like he's picking up a fight with Jean only for the sake of it. I mean, Christa being a damsel in distress... well come on, she's also a soldier! I was expecting her to go a bit more badass back then, rather than only shouting "dame!". There's also the question of when did Mikasa + Annie got their 3dmg so quickly to save the day. The 'save Christa plan' required them to cut down a tree. Where did they get the equipment to do so, again? I'm not sure their rucksacks contain something blade-like to do that job. And this 'daughter' of the thief... Why would he suddenly remember his daughter in a monologue while being cornered by a bunch of soldiers? Seems like that line only serves the purpose of making Christa sympathetic. Where's Ymir? But anyway... I love getting a glimpse of what kind of training they got in the academy... Despite all those complaints I really wouldn't mind another episode like this... Or 10. Sigh. Marcoo... |

| I liked getting a closer glimpse into the training that occurred in the early stages of the series as well as what sorts of dangers posed the trainees. It was also a reminder that in addition to the titans, humans were still very much a threat as well. The plan worked well and I feel like it fit into what I enjoy about SnK nicely. 8/10 for this OVA set, it makes me all the more anxious as the wait for season 2 continues to draw out. |

I just really love them :D +1 I understand from other comments that there isn't enough manga material to support it, but it would be amazing to have a whole series based solely on their cadet training. I was disappointed that we didn't get more of their training, character bonding, and teamwork building, etc, during this timeframe in season 1, and so I was stoked when it became apparent what this OVA was about! Great to see more Christa, Mikasa and Sasha, naturally. But I also loved seeing Marco again. He was always such a likable guy. :) Another thing I enjoyed was seeing some action that didn't involve titans! The human vs. human stuff was a nice change. 4/5 Overall OVA set 8/10. |
