Hey folks! I’ve put together a very loose decision making dependent group game! For those of you who are experienced with games or perhaps visual novels which features ‘paths’ dependent on your choices then this is forum game is for you! Thieves of Therradin is first and foremost – a ‘team’ game – you’re not out to kill each other, you’re playing together with those of you that sign up. Keep that firmly in mind before signing up as you will require to chat amongst yourselves, this isn’t a game where you can sit quietly throughout and hope you go unnoticed. You must contribute to the group for the game to actually progress! Active forum gamers who genuinely wish to participate are encouraged!
A set routine of how this game will play out
1 – I will present you with a scenario fitting to the backstory of the game that I've dropped below the rules, and one that ties in with the previous scenarios.
2 – At the end of the scenario, there will be at least three options of how to progress to the next scenario.
3 – The group itself must come to a decision on what option to take via voting. Know that once you have voted, you may not change your vote. Be mindful of that and choose wisely what you think is best for the group, not for yourself.
4 – I will check once per day to see if you have come to an agreement via voting on which choice you are going with. In the case of a tie vote with nobody willing to budge, I will go with the least voted upon choice in order to punish players for not compromising or at least delivering valid reasons to those that oppose them as to why they should jump ship and go with another option. Harsh, but fair in my opinion, I’d rather not randomly choose between the most voted options and create ‘factions’. That would also confirm who is wrong and who is right. It’s a team game, work out what’s best for you guys and come to a conclusion.
5 – Upon the end of voting I will move to the next scenario based on the group’s decision (example; you wish to enter a building from a certain angle, the next scenario will be that playing leading on to a whole host of choices(or sometimes lack of) and consequences. Know that some decisions can get your entire group killed, arrested, or even injured somewhat. Not well thought out decisions can instantly end the game. I will only add a few of these types of decisions to promote the length of the game, but they will definitely be in there. There can also be individual deaths/decisions. If a player dies his vote is no longer valid but he may still partake in discussion!
6 - The game ends if you successfully set out and complete what the backstory describes! This is a once-only game whereby I'll come up with a completely different story/setting for next time but keep the same rules and such :)
Rules
• You may only vote once on each scenario, think carefully before you throw in that vote. You must vote. The game will not continue without fully voted upon choices as I genuinely wish this to be a team game rather than a few members playing this out whilst the rest of the group sits back. Do NOT sign up if you don’t have the time to check the thread at least once a day and see what’s going down, or at least to throw in your vote. Your motivation to play= my motivation to host.
• There is to no limit to how long you have to make your choices. I will check the thread at least once per day usually afternoon/night time GMT and see if people have come to an agreement yet. If they have I’ll drop the next scenario there and then. But overall I’m setting no time limit on when you have to make decisions by. I will however, go back on this rule if some members of the group are obviously not participating in the game. Their votes will be ruled out as void in the future but they may still participate in the current game via discussion.
• All votes must be delivered in bold. To do that type [*b*]put some text here[*/b*] <--- in that format with the stars removed. It simply makes it easier to pick up when scrolling through a lot of text.
• Participate! This game is only fun when people are actually actively wanting to play it!
• Just because someone disagrees with a choice somebody else wants, it doesn’t necessarily make it wrong, or right, so keep that in mind before you fully flame them! Team games are ruined by this!
• An additional rule will be delivered as soon as the sign-ups are complete and you will be all made aware of this on the first choice ;)
Backstory
Therradin is the trade capital of the new world, a bustling sprawling city of smells, sights and sounds of the approaching five hundred strong diverse race of creatures which inhabit the great city. Not only is it known as the greatest platform of sold goods and black market in the world, but it’s also the city which holds the annual ‘Mid-summer auction’. A week long selling bonanza whereby all the great merchant companies, gangs, organised crime syndicates, certified sellers and common folk gather together to sell and buy wares from all around the country. At the heart of the city lies The Great Mall, a place where the most expensive of items are trusted to be protected and housed whilst awaiting sale during this week. Only the most powerful of people can afford to have the Great mall lend their service of keeping hold of their goods. An extremely secure building with alliances between almost all the local factions, bringing loyalty from the majority of the city.
The thieves, as you may have guessed, must rob the Great Mall. Caught between a rock and a hard place they have failed their last robbery, but not before lending a very large amount of funding from an extremely powerful criminal organisation. In payment for failing to complete the last robbery they are sent on a kamikaze attempt to rob The Great Mall. With hopes of making a big score on a crown of extremely precious stones said to be sold there during the week. They have no choice but to die trying or becomes slaves working manual labour for the organisation until their vast debt is paid.

Just like to welcome you all and hope you have fun, the opening scenario will be quite different from what I’ve described above, but will tie into what I mentioned in rule six…
Scenario
It was ten miles outside of Therradin when the band of thieves set up camp, mid-afternoon to be exact. They had a few things to settle besides their bellies, the foremost thing being the matter of leadership. It was heavily discussed during the route to Therradin that the reason their last heist failed was because they lacked a figure of authority amongst the group. With nobody to take charge and make a unified decision, the group often got caught arguing amongst themselves! With that being said the band decide to vote upon a leader who will receive a little extra power amongst the group…
The Choices
The leader will receive; Two commands. During a vote the leader can take entire control of the situation and vote for a choice himself, disregarding all other votes he may single-handledly make a decision on his own how the game will progress. But ONLY on two occasions, no more, no less.
With that being said… the first choice of the game, is who you will elect as your leader! Using the sign-up sheet of course, pick a number of who you want to be your leader. No voting for yourself, and no going back on your decision now!
You say in case of a tie you will go with the one least voted for, but if it is a tie there will be the same amount on each one.. Also you said once you vote you can't switch it later, but you also said something about changing it if it ends up being a tie.
If it's going to be a command that can overturn everyone else, then ideally the leader should be someone we can all trust that would make the right decision when the time comes.
Who can be trusted?

I believe there can be more than two options in scenarios, not necessarily just two.

Oh that makes sense.
So A has 4 votes, B has 4 votes, but C has 2 votes. C wins.
Guys I think I should be leader.
My name would certainly be fitting for the job.
I should add I would listen to everyones ideas as I'm sure you all know

Precisely. Personally, there's just something about PantsMan and his appearance that instills a sense of deep trust, but judging on appearances alone may prove to be a mistake.
Going by that logic my avatar would be more than fitting, if we go by trust i know Nyanko does not have the balls literally and metaphorically to betray us but i don't see Nyanko as leader material.

I've played with him in other games and I honestly think we could choose a better leader.

It's not possible for an overall tie across 10 members when there's 3 choices. There can however be a tie between two of the three choices, so the third will be picked! :)

Now now Ganon rip off avvy, if we choose by the looks of our avatars I think a bitchy looking brunette assassin would be best.
I think that a simple name evokes trust, the wall between people is smaller when the name is shorter. You'd want a leader who keeps things simple and doesn't complicate matters. Too many syllables just makes communication harder, imagine only having to use one when calling for your leader, how nice that would be. You also want a leader who has clear desires, then you know what you're going to be working towards.
With all of this in mind, I'll vote for 5 - PantsMan. Seems like a down to earth fella who knows how to hide his face in the manner that will least draw suspicion.
I promise you all can trust me, but I'm not passionately set on being leader, so, someone else who really wants to lead can lead, just as long as my voice is heard.

I must admit, I hadn't taken into account PantsMan's daring disguise. Most certainly something which will be useful in our operation, and seems to be one step ahead in that regard. Interesting...

Not to mention the fact he has not checked out the thread, however in defense no one here has made a better statement as to why they should be leader so we have nothing else to go on.
My talents include :
Having the experience of leadership before (back in ww3)
The wisdom of solomon to make good choices (thanks to trading my arms)
Having more hearts than Link (took time to gather those hearts!)
And most importantly I will not make hasty decisions to jeopordize our mission(impossible)
