| Space Battleship Yamato 2199 - has everything except school slice of life. Planetes - good mix of drama, romance, action, kind of like SOL in space. Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari - might be the best mix of what you're looking for. Zero no Tsukaima |

Somewhere around episode seven or eight it makes an abrupt turn to include some historical materials. Abe no Seimei appears along the way. |
