Do you think people who look for/watch harems/roms overall feel unloved so they watch it to somehow fill his/her heart?

Watching harem anime imo was because I've been turned down alot, to the point it makes me feel better about myself to be shown a story of me being the main guy and having chicks chase you for a change.

But most others may just watch it for the boobs/girls/panty shots.

This thread...

@ Topic - Who knows, trying to answer for anyone other than myself is retarded. I just watch them because they tend to be mindless fun. Not everything has to be wish fulfillment or Freudian pseudo-psychoanalysis.

Wouldn't that be the other way round? I don't know about you, but if I felt unloved, I think I'd avoid romance at all costs so as not to feel envious or anything.

I think it would be the other way around actually.

No. I watch them either for comedy purposes, the cute girls or whatever else catches my fancy.

Has anyone ever wondered why the kool-aid guy is always with a pitcher of kool-aid?

Is he a cannibal? Seriously, what the hell?

I think it can be a factor, similar to how some women in America flock to books like Twilight and Fifty Shades of Gray to indulge their fantasies. For me personally, I often times enjoy the romance in anime/manga more than most American representations of romance, because of the focus on the core of romance itself rather than the sexual aspects. It's also nice to see the genuinely nice guy play the lead instead of the doormat.

Some do, some don't. Seriously, this isn't a debatable matter, it's just more about throwing your prejudgement knowing that it is a prejudgement.

Only those with a huge narcisistic level would want a harem in real life. Obsessed with woman , he breaths woman and eats woman xD.
Imagine 10 GFs'.......no time for yourself , no time to do anything else but run from a place to place and eventually bang eachother.

Lol absolutely not. My reason for watching the romance genre in anime is because I like to see what happens to the relationship with the main characters. It's sort of...interesting, I guess you can say. Gotta have a little spice here and there when watching anime.

I know I don't personally.
I watch romance anime to see the progression of the relationship of the characters so it's basically entertainment to me.

No people watch them because they want to see a nice animated set of tits or they find them funny.

Your doing it wrong. In no harem I watched did any girl put a financial burden on OP.

Do we assume that everyone who watches Hollywood chick flicks and romantic comedies is a desperate single woman hoping to "meet cute" a rich handsome man who'll solve all her problems? I would say not -- the "ecchi/harem anime fans are all loser virgins" is just vacuous fanbase-bashing criticism from the haters who can't string together enough valid criticism about the merits of the shows themselves.

People who watch a lot of Slice of Life anime where all the characters just eat food and drink tea have no friends so they need social life simulators.

a bit off topic, but I just realized I actually had a 4-girl harem back in middle school haha. unfortunately, I was only attracted to one of them..... wait.... that's like how it is in anime, isn't it.... wow. and I was too damn shy to capitalize on it ;_;
