THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Gourmet is awesome, like the way I remember from the manga. The classical OST really matches his style since he also has a stylish taste for food.

Itori is awesome this episode. I don't think Kaneki can trust her completely though. But yeah, I think Gourmet brings style to this show. Kaneki got more badass this episode as well I guess.

gourmet... this is not a good ida *-*

yup, it ended where i expected it would end...

Kaneki... unless you can pwn him, stay away from gourmet ^_^

EDIT: oh for those who are wondering what he ate in the beginning, it was an eyeball cut up into slices

EDIT_2: after rechecking the manga, they animated chapter 31-39, while cutting out bit of 35 out for next episode...
yup, even for a normal standard they are rushing waaaay too much >__>

EDIT_3: since they cut out tons of character interaction between groumet and kaneki before the ghoul restaurant, i think i just post the dialouge here:

I don't think so...They're probably just switching things around. If u watched the PV it had Amon vs Ken and Touka vs Mado. So no worries there.

I don't know why they'd change the order though ^^;...Either way if I look at this ep from an AOV perspective it was fun :3 Shuu is just hilarious to watch XD

Just give up on thinking this will be a loyal adaption. They're gonna change quite a lot of stuff...we'll just have to deal with it -.-

I was surprised that Tsukiyama was introduced so soon, but even though the order is a little different I don't mind ^.^ It was a great episode! I think re-ordering the arcs helps keep the momentum going from an anime only perspective. Can't wait for the next one!

Ok,this was rushed to oblivion.I am starting to hate this anime adaptation :/.
Guess they have to reduce the number of episodes of other shows for even more(if possible)Naruto fillers...

Well, from my guess, they did so to make the doves(especially Amon) feel more powerful.

Geez what a creepy guy. I'm amazed Kaneki's instinct didn't kick in on how freaky he was acting in that shop. I really hope Kaneki doesn't accept his proposal since all that trust should have been like gone. Oh well they got my interest since hopefully Kaneki will be ready for this since he is in too deep now.

Skipping the dove arc has got to be the biggest joke ever. They'll most likely do it after the Gourtmet arc, but still that's bullshit.

I hope thats true man. The events that happens there is really huge. And they skipped a lot of minor content for this episode, but i guess it's still alright

I can't believe they left out the whole manga chapter with the two other characters that get sent in there with Ken. >___>

I don't even care about the censoring, it's the random skipping that's confusing me a whole lot.

This episode made me hate Tokyo Ghoul anime so much.
Why are they rushing so much? Some parts were so unnecessary. For example, Kaneki's and Yomo's few minute training which will probably won't be shown ever again or Itori's, Yomo's, Uta's and Kaneki's meeting at that bar. They cut so much stuff, that even if they try to put important parts, they don't look as important as they are because only few minutes are spent on them. For example, that dialogue about half-ghoul and half-human children was so interesting to read. And in anime it felt like some filler.
Also, why did they introduce Hinami and her mother in the previous episode even though they are doing arc with Tsukiyama first? Why the hell are they even doing that arc first? And they crammed almost entire arc in one episode. It made me so frustrated.

Not enough Touka in this episode.

It looks like most of the people watching this show already read the manga. I think I should start reading it too since it looks like there is some chapters being skipped.

Well, I guess it was an ok episode. A shame they skipped two human "delishes" in the restauraunt.
And grr-r-r why skip that Itori teased Kaneki about Rize's past and said she would say more if he "sniffs out" how the ghoul restauraunt works. That gives an explanation why Kaneki even agreed to go with Shu despite Touka's warning and not just the feeling that 'he's like me and not that bad of a guy'.
Sigh. At least the censor was not that annoying this ep, cause there was nothing to censor, lol :)

I didn't though it would but Mamoru Miyano was simply perfect for Tsukiyama. I started liking his character more after this episode. Is it my impression or the anime was able to make his obsession with Kaneki even stronger?

Man...Tokyo Ghoul has some excellent immersion & exposition. The way we learn how the world ghouls live in works is mostly through Kaneki's eyes. He's learning it the hard way though...

i'm glad that i didn't start the manga yet then i wouldn't enjoy the show as much as i am.

the conversation with itori was really interesting.

it is supposed to be ironic that mamoru miyano plays mm or not?

the episode needed more touka though

Hehe...yeah they're skipping quite a lot.

Last ep we thought they're gonna merge 2 arcs but turns out they're gonna be doing the 2nd arc before the first one ^^;

And quite a lot of pretty important details skipped or changed for example...

The book Ken was reading while talking to Shu wasn't the same. In the manga it was a martial arts book...he was learning how to fight to add theoretical knowledge on what Yomo was teaching him during the training sessions.

The talk with Itori had an important motive for Ken to go to the restaurant. In the manga him going to the restaurant was technically an undercover mission but here he just went to know more about Rize.

In the restaurant...there were 2 others to be eaten along with Ken.

And he was wary of the coffee he drank. Here he just drank it right away -.-

And Kaneki actually fought back quite a bit even before he activated his Kagugan.

Also they needed to change the saw Taro was using to a specific weapon because normal weapons don't work.

So yeah, quite a lot of down playing for Ken's character in the anime. In the manga he wasn't this naive -.- But oh well.

Loved Tsukiyama's parts though XDXDXD I was facepalming while LMAO when he was sniffing Ken's blood hahaha lol

And poor Taro D: Felt bad for him T_T

Well, that Gourmet sure is one creepy guy, eh?
Since I've not read the manga, I'm not really bothered by this 'switching around arcs' as others here probably (rightfully) are. Though to be fair, I'd have loved to see more about the Doves, seeing how they were shaping up pretty nicely last week.

well, in manga it was the gourmet who used his nail to cut him, not the broken teacups >_<

just ignore it as anime only fault, since in manga it is possible for ghouls to cut other ghouls

Lol, as a French dude watching Tokyo Ghoul with French subs, I didn't understand at the beginning that the waiter was speaking French. I love it when Japanese people try to speak other languages xD.

By the way, "eyes of a single woman"? The fuck? Why do they need to precise that she was single when she died? lmao

I'm really starting to like Tokyo Ghoul, though your complaints about the adaptation worry me a bit
